Platform Delegation Meets Communist Party of Ecuador

On November 29, the delegation of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform (Platform) met with the Communist Party of Ecuador in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and discussed the current world war situation, particularly the severe crisis of war surrounding Venezuela.

During the meeting with the Expanded Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Ecuador, the delegation delivered a keynote speech on the current situation.

The delegation stated, “The storm of World War 3, instigated by imperialism, is blowing from Eastern Europe through West Asia and is set to reach East Asia and Latin America. At the end of last year, the fascist regime of the ‘Republic of Korea (ROK)’ sent drones to Pyongyang to attack the DPRK and declared martial law, all of which was part of the conspiracy of imperialist forces to provoke a war in East Asia.”

They continued, “The recent aggressive remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, declaring active intervention in the event of a Taiwan contingency, show that a war in East Asia could break out at any moment. Furthermore, the current crisis in the Caribbean, caused by US imperialism, indicates that a war against Latin America could erupt at any time.”

The delegation emphasized, “The feature of World War 3 carried out by imperialism is proxy wars. Through fascist proxy regimes, the peoples are being drawn into imperialist global war. Therefore, the struggles against imperialism, against war, and against fascism are one and the same struggle.”

In conclusion, they stated, “In the midst of World War 3, the struggles of workers and the peoples today must be united with the people of the world and fought together. Today, the struggles in the ‘ROK’ and the struggles in Ecuador are not different. Based on proletarian internationalism, we must struggle together against imperialism.”

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Ecuador responded, “We agree with the Platform’s assessment of the current situation. We are concerned about the emerging war threats against Latin America and the crisis in the Caribbean. The war in Ukraine must end quickly, and a peace agreement must be reached promptly. We also oppose and demand the cessation of the massacres of the Palestinian people. We will stand together through the struggle taking place in Ecuador against imperialism and neoliberalism.”
