On March 21, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated in an interview with the Russian news agency Sputnik that “the United States has exploited its military presence in Arab countries” and that “these nations have unwittingly allowed the US to use their territories to target Iran.”
He continued, “The United States, as well as Israel, can carry out covert operations in the region using technology similar to ours,” denying allegations of attacking civilian or oil industry facilities in neighboring countries. Instead, he contended that Israel is conducting “false flag” operations.
Emphasizing the legitimacy of Iran’s retaliatory measures, Baghaei stated, “We deliberately targeted only US military bases and other infrastructure used to launch attacks against Iran.”
Meanwhile, he remarked that “the war with Iran is the result of the US capitulating to Israel’s demands.”
Baghaei assessed that “the US ignored diplomacy, imposed unilateral demands, and undermined the negotiation process with Iran,” adding that the outcome of this conflict will have global repercussions, far beyond West Asia.
