[PDP Spokesperson’s Statement 660 ]
The British Government Must Cease Its Suppression of the CPGB-ML and Stop Collaborating with the Israeli War Machine!
Imperialist Britain is viciously suppressing the anti-imperialist struggle and peace movement within its borders. On April 9, DR Ranjeet Brar, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB-ML), was arrested by British authorities on charges of “supporting terrorism” and “inciting racial hatred,” and released a few hours later. While the British police cited violations of the British Terrorism Act and the Public Order Act, this was in fact a fascistic crackdown on public security, carried out by completely distorting criticisms of Israeli state policy and Zionism as “anti-semitism.” Although Dr Brar has been repeatedly arrested by the police over the years, he has been released in most cases without charge or found not guilty. Such facts provide clear evidence of the legitimacy of Dr Brar’s political activities.
The Starmer Labour government is suppressing anti-imperialist, anti-war, and peace movement forces through various means. Since the outbreak of the war in Iran, more than 4,000 people have been arrested across Britain for violations of the Terrorism Act and the Public Order Act. As part of the TPIM (Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Measures Act), authorities are implementing measures equivalent to house arrest if an individual is deemed a “terrorist threat,” even in the absence of sufficient evidence for prosecution. For youth under the age of 21 participating in anti-war activities, the government is enforcing mandatory ideological correction through “Youth Diversion Orders” and has prohibited the wearing of masks or face coverings during protests. To isolate them economically and socially, the government is referring individuals to professional bodies based solely on their arrest records to pressure and incite for the suspension of their practising certificates and their dismissal. At protest sites, the Public Order Act is being abused to extremely restrict demonstration areas and control the use of loudspeakers, thereby blocking the delivery of their messages.
This security crackdown is being carried out simultaneously with involvement in the war against Iran. Britain has provided the Akrotiri base in Cyprus as a core launchpad for the imperialist US and the Zionist Israeli militaries. As a key base for the US military’s forward deployment in West Asia, aerial refueling and reconnaissance aircraft are constantly taking off from there to support strikes on the Iranian mainland. Signal intelligence collected by the Royal Air Force’s RC-135W reconnaissance planes near the Persian Gulf and the Iranian border is shared in real-time with the US Department of Defense and Israeli intelligence. Furthermore, Royal Navy destroyers and aircraft carriers are deployed near the Strait of Hormuz to perform defense missions for the US and Israeli fleets. Beyond this, vicious efforts are underway in logistics, joint operations with the US for energy transport, and the “demonization” of Iran. This is precisely why the slogan “Starmer is a War Criminal” is echoing at anti-war peace rallies.
No cooperation with the war machine! Just one day after a temporary ceasefire between Iran and the US, the Israeli Zionists—the butchers of humanity—massacred 303 people in a single day through massive airstrikes on Lebanon. In response to Israel’s five consecutive strikes near Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, Iran is targeting areas near Israel’s Dimona nuclear facility. If the Bushehr plant explodes, it will be a second Chernobyl; if the Dimona facility is destroyed, more than half of Israel will turn into a wasteland of death. Israel cannot be an exception to the cataclysm that Zionists are bringing upon West Asia. It is self-evident who the real antisemites and primary war criminals are. The collusion, aggression, massacre, and destruction by imperialist forces prove that the overthrow of imperialism is the most urgent task of struggle in this era. The people of the world, united on the anti-imperialist front, will end all wars of aggression through joint struggle, terminate imperialism, and hasten a new world of global independence and lasting peace.
