We salute the bravery of the Platform’s comrades

In every movement that competes for the leadership of the class struggle, there are groups differentiated by their level of involvement. You have people who offer sympathies, words of support and when possible, their vote, but no more than that. You have people who come forward to march shoulder to shoulder with you at public rallies. And you also have intellectuals who fulfill the vital role of providing analytical and strategic direction to the movement.
Within the intellectual group, you have people who confine their activity to expressing opinions, using revolutionary phrases and revolutionary-sounding language, without actually going past their reading-circles. They avoid the risk of getting into trouble with the Capitalist state who they oppose so militantly with written words. They are simply not there to oppose the state in places where it is physically present, namely the streets, the factories, the government buildings, the embassies, etc. Their analysis is “pure” and untainted by practice or experience. In other words, they are “arm-chair” Socialists, content to live in the world of slogans.
Fortunately, in the intellectual group, you also have people who walk-the-talk. They provide not only critical analysis and intellectual leadership, but are also a physical presence in the movement. They are unafraid of the battle or the sacrifice when facing down the oppressive state elements. They march shoulder-to-shoulder with comrades, they mobilize resources and people, they energize people with the megaphone, and actually confront the representatives of capital to create the social conditions necessary for change.
It is precisely because these intellectuals write and speak from experience, through real, lived struggle, that their leadership is all the more sincere. These are the people who are the best example of the movement. They are the vanguard.
Our comrades from the parties associated with the World Anti-Imperialist Platform belong to this distinguished category. Their fearless struggle against capitalism and imperialism is not waged by staying inside meeting rooms and conferences halls making fancy speeches in their own home towns, but by venturing to the hotspots of danger around the world, all the way to the belly of the beast.
We applaud the bravery and resoluteness of the comrades of the People’s Democracy Party, Communist Party of Great Britain – ML, Communist Party Marxist – Kenya, and Revolutionary Theory Group who have risked their health and freedom to struggle against the return of colonialist powers to Kenya. In recent events in Nairobi, they have faced physical violence, arrest and numerous threats.
We denounce the repressive actions by the government of Kenya against these anti-colonialist freedom fighters, and against its own people. Under William Ruto, the country is being put on the path of becoming a satellite of Zionism and colonialist powers. This rolling back of history, where people who won their freedom from colonialism go back to being servants of the colonialists at the behest of sell-outs and opportunists such as Ruto, must be stopped.
The struggle against colonialism and its servants will not cease; it will regroup and come roaring back with a vengeance.
