Ergül Çiçekler, the Istanbul representative of the Construction and Road Workers’ Union, was arrested on June 18th during operations conducted before the NATO summit. He is still being held in Silivri prison.
Ergül Çiçekler was previously a revolutionary prisoner who spent 28 years in jail and was released 1.5 years ago.
Construction workers have launched a campaign for the immediate release of Ergül Çiçekler, whose union activities are being presented as a crime, and have begun making appeals from their construction sites.
We request that member countries and workers of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform also call for the immediate release of our comrade Ergül Çiçekler, through videos or written messages.
We await your support to ensure that Ergül Çiçekler does not find himself behind bars again after 28 years.
