“No to fascism!” Statement by participants of the march and rally in Tbilisi on May 9

On the day of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War, a joint action of the political parties “Solidarity for Peace”, “United Communist Party of Georgia” and the public movement “Socialist Platform of Georgia” took place in Tbilisi.

Following the rally, the participants put forward a statement about the possible repetition of the Ukrainian scenario in the country and the fascistization of public and political life in Georgia. MIR-info provides the full text of the statement.

Dear friends!

Despite the fact that the ruling “Dream” won the elections last year, the danger of the restoration of the pro-Western opposition has not passed. It has been announced that the ban on ultra-right political parties will not take place. Consequently, this entire destructive “commonwealth” led by Saakashvili’s party will take part in the local government elections. They can strengthen their positions. After the elections, their ban will become much more difficult to implement.

Today, May 9, on the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory over fascism, we are obliged to warn the people that the threat of fascism in Georgia, the “Ukrainization” of our country, has not passed.

Look at what is happening in Ukraine. After the ultra-right forces in Kyiv, brothers of our home-grown pro-Western opposition, came to power by force and in an unconstitutional way, all signs of democracy instantly disappeared! Opposition parties were banned. The militarization of the country began. In the end, Ukraine was pitted against the most powerful nuclear power!

We have already been through this. But in the case of “Ukrainization” of Georgia, a catastrophe much larger than in 2008 will occur. What we see in Ukraine will happen. Hundreds of thousands of dead, even more maimed, tens of millions fleeing the country. An inevitable social catastrophe lies ahead! Ukraine may disappear from the political map of the world and all responsibility for this will be placed on the Kiev regime.

We do not want Georgia to share this fate.

Therefore, we call on the ruling party and relevant government agencies to make every effort to ban anti-state political forces before the parliamentary elections on October 5.

Today, May 9, on the day of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, we, the participants of the march and rally, declare: “No to fascism! Ban Nazism! No to the “Ukrainization” of Georgia!
