“Contradictions within the imperialist camp are deepening”, 1st Session of the Amsterdam Anti-Imperialist Conference

Jozef Bossuyt, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Belgium, stated, “The World War 3 has begun. This war has been planned, launched, organized, funded, coordinated, and armed by NATO, which is the main instrument of US imperialism.” He went on to say, “The NATO war is being fought on four fronts: Ukraine–Donbas, Palestine–Arab nations, ‘Republic of Korea’–China–Taiwan, and Africa–Rwanda. To summarize the global situation in one sentence: the flames of the World War 3, sparked by imperialism, are spreading across all continents of the world.”

Lasha Shavdiya, representative of the Georgian Socialist Platform, stated, “From 2003 to 2012 under the Saakashvili regime, all the hallmarks of neo-Nazism existed in Georgia. It is no surprise that the Pinochet dictatorship was presented as a model at that time. Today, our most urgent task is to prevent the resurgence of the far right. This resurgence would directly lead to NATO–U.S. control, the instigation of ethnic conflicts, and military confrontation with Russia.” He emphasized, “Today, Kyiv is the main hotbed of Nazism and far-right radicalism in the post-Soviet space. It will be extremely difficult to prevent the far right’s resurgence without international cooperation. This conference is an essential step toward uniting progressive forces around the world.”

Haig Mkhitarian, a member of the Armenian Communist Party, said, “Finland and Sweden have broken decades of neutrality and joined NATO. Austria and Switzerland have joined all sanctions, including the freezing of $300 billion in Russian assets. Neutral Moldova has conducted 17 joint military exercises with NATO.” He added, “The imperialist camp is using neo-Nazis in Ukraine, Zionists in Israel, and reactionary forces in Europe.” He stressed, “At the core of the current situation is the World War 3. An anti-imperialist front has formed in this confrontation, including Russia, China, and the DPRK. Iran, which is fighting against Israeli imperialism—Zionism—is also part of this front. Armenian communists are convinced that the path of socialist development is the most just and beneficial choice for the majority of our people and our nation.”

Stefan Petrov, member of international committee of Bulgaria’s September 23 Movement, stated,

“The United States is losing its dominant position on the world stage, and contradictions within the imperialist camp are deepening. The number of countries opposing imperialism is growing, along with their importance and economic strength.” He continued, “Bulgaria’s dominant comprador elite, acting on the orders of their masters, is preparing yet another anti-people measure under the pretext of so-called ‘Euro-Atlantic integration.’ This time, it is the push to join the Eurozone. He concluded, “We believe the struggle against joining the Eurozone is not only of national significance but is also part of the global resistance by peoples around the world against imperialism and its institutions.”

Aleksandar Đenić, Executive Secretary of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia, declared, “This historic event holds great significance in the anti-imperialist struggle. At a time when NATO is holding its summit in The Hague, we must send a strong anti-imperialist message.” He added, “NATO has formed a new military alliance among Kosovo, Croatia, and Albania, clearly aimed at Serbia—the only country in the region not aligned with NATO.” He condemned, “Western imperialism is trying to further divide the fraternal peoples of Yugoslavia—especially Bosniaks and Serbs—by inciting hostility between them, sowing instability, and encouraging nationalist chauvinism, all to justify NATO’s continued presence in the territory of the former Yugoslavia.”

Dimitrios Patelis, representative of the Greek Revolutionary Unification stated, “The World War 3 is a confrontation between the imperialist axis of aggression and the socialist and anti-imperialist forces.” He continued, “They disguise their criminal instruments—acting as assault forces of the imperialist axis—under the pretense of being ‘models of democracy’ and ‘committed to shared values.’ He emphasized that the World Anti-Imperialist Platform must focus on 3 main goals. The victory of socialist and anti-imperialist forces and the comprehensive defeat of the US–NATO–EU axis of aggression across all areas, including the ideological front. It must also expose the manipulative ideological structures of the bourgeoisie, opportunists, and revisionists—as well as dogmatism—that cause confusion and hinder the realization of the practical steps needed for anti-imperialist victory. Finally, it must strengthen and unify all consistent communist forces on the basis of internationalism, both in theory and in practice, so they can fulfill a vanguard role in the comprehensive struggle for victory with a clear perspective on socialist revolution and communism.

Finally, a special statement was read out by the Bulgarian September 23 Movement, the Communist Party of Kenya (Marxist), and the World Anti-Imperialist Platform, addressing the escalating situation in West Asia following Israel’s bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities.
