Amid the deployment of a US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to the Caribbean Sea and the Venezuelan military’s transition to full combat readiness, the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) held an emergency rally on November 15 in front of the US Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, “Stop the Unprecedented Treasonous Deal Immediately—Withdraw the US Occupation Forces, the Bandit Invaders!”
Participants shouted slogans such as:
“Reject US imperialism, the bandit Invaders!”
“Withdraw US occupation forces now!”
“End this treasonous deal—$350 billion + $600 billion!”
“We Strongly Condemn This Unprecedented Treachery and the World’s Utter Foolishness!”
“We Strongly Condemn This Unprecedented Treasonous Deal and Reckless War-Mongering!”
“Let us crush treason and betrayal through the uprising of workers and the people!”
“The people united will never be defeated—we will win!”
along with chants of “¡Viva Venezuela!”, “¡Viva Maduro!”, “¡Victoria Siempre!”, “¡Venceremos!”
The chair of the PDP Anti-US, Anti-War Special Committee said that, “workers had formed Defense Brigade “21st Century Che Guevara.” With US imperialism’s imminent aggression against Venezuela, what must we, the workers, do at this critical moment? How can we protect our workplaces, our families, and our homeland? In the face of these questions, the workers responded boldly through action. Since the US imperialists, seeking to invade Venezuela, are committing acts of plunder against the ‘ROK,’ the only path for workers and people to survive in the midst of World War 3 is to unite and fight together.”
She continued, “Even as the United States deepens its crude schemes and blatant provocations to overthrow the Maduro people’s government, the Venezuelan people remain more united than ever. The eight million–strong people’s militia’s resolve for anti-imperialist, anti-US struggle is rooted in people-centered initiatives such as over 5,300 comunas nationwide and the construction of five million public housing units. The small country of Latin American, Venezuela, has chosen the path of sovereignty, determined to rely on its own strength and refuse to bow to US imperialism.”
She added, “What about the Lee Jae-myung government? Lee Jae-myung, who is mentioning fact sheets that are no different from a declaration of treachery, and Maduro, who appeals for peace and unites with the people—the paths they take are sharply divided between treason and patriotism, subjugation and sovereignty. Between the ‘ROK,’ where US occupation forces are stationed and military sovereignty has been surrendered to them, and Venezuela, where the army and the people are working together to realize autonomous national defense, who is truly choosing the side of the people?”
She further declared, “The struggles of the enraged French people are not someone else’s business. People who know the results achieved through street struggles will not yield. Lee Jae-myung can never withstand the explosive will of the people. Let this serve as a grave warning: should he give the final approval to treasonous negotiations, he will face the thorough judgment of the people, unprecedented in history. The People’s Democracy Party, with the people loving peace and striving for a new world of justice, will steadfastly defend the anti-imperialist front alongside the people, not only in Venezuela but worldwide, and will ensure victory.”
Worker member of the People’s Democracy Party stated, “The labor market has long gone beyond a dual structure of regular and irregular employment, forming a triple or even quadruple exploitation structure where subcontracting layers repeat endlessly. Exploitation is becoming increasingly fragmented and sophisticated, with irregular workers, subcontracted laborers, workers in special employment categories, platform workers, and others whose status as workers is not recognized. The AI, which is said to be the result of technological innovation, is in fact being misused to expand the scope of employment insecurity. The workers of the ‘ROK’ are said to be the most intelligent and diligent in the world. Although the people have built the ‘ROK’ economy while enduring the longest working hours, they suffer under high-intensity, low-wage labor, unemployment, and irregular employment, and the country records the highest suicide rates globally. In short, the reality of life for our people today is nothing short of a human hell. In this context, the treasonous tariff agreement is truly the greatest treasonous deal and slave contract since the founding of our nation,” she condemned.
She continued, “Our country’s annual total budget is 700 trillion won. For who this government is working, which intends to hand over more than half of that budget to the United States under the name of ‘investment.’ Our country has less than 20 billion dollars in available foreign currency in a year. Yet, the government plans to hand all that money to the US—not just for one year, not just for two, but for a full ten years. At the end of this ten-year slave contract, the hard-earned foundations of our manufacturing industry, built by the sweat and labor of our workers and people, will be completely destroyed. Industrial hollowing-out will deepen, and unemployment and irregular employment will become even more severe,” she warned.
She raised her voice, “Above all, it is a serious problem that ‘Denuclearization of the DPRK’ was explicitly mentioned. This continues the consultations for DPRK nuclear deterrence, including the nuclear consultation group from the Yoon Seok-yeol era, exactly as they were. The Lee Jae-myung government has thus fallen to the same level as the Yoon Suk-yeol fascist government. On top of this, nuclear submarines appear. And they say ‘allied modernization.’ What does it mean, above all, to strengthen the conventional deterrence posture of US forces in the ‘ROK?’ It signifies ‘strategic flexibility,’ which means that in the event of a war in East Asia and war in Taiwan, US bases in the ‘ROK’ would be the primary targets, and the ‘ROK’ would become a battlefield under US control. “The Lee Jae-myung government and the ‘ROK’ are set to take responsibility for one axis of the US imperialist Indo-Pacific strategy and World War 3.” Did they call it the ‘the ‘ROK’-US Renaissance’? The cost of this treasonous negotiation and war plotting is not revival but only struggle.”
Finally, party members sang the “Song of the People.”
On that day, workers, youth, and students also held successive rallies, resolving to join the Defense Brigade, the “21st Century Che Guevara” organized by the People’s Democracy Party.
