Trump Convenes Emergency National Security Meeting, Discusses Military Action Against Venezuela

On December 1, US President Donald Trump convened an emergency meeting of his national security team to discuss the issue of military action against Venezuela.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense (War Department) Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller attended the meeting.

Earlier, on November 30, Trump told reporters that he had recently held a phone call with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Reuters reported that during the recent call with Maduro, Trump gave him a deadline and told him to leave Venezuela with his family.

This meeting was held after receiving a report that Maduro had not complied with the demand.
