Delegation of the Platform met with Colombian Communist Forces

From December 6-7, the delegation of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform (Platform) met with the leadership and women’s organization of the Colombian Communist Party. Colombia is the seventh country visited on the Latin American series of visits, following Mexico, El Salvador, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Ecuador.

The Platform began visiting Latin American countries on November 6 to strengthen the anti-imperialist struggle against the escalating state of war in Venezuela and Latin America, following the conclusion of the International Anti-Imperialist Conference held in October 2025.

The Colombian Communist Party explained that they are “preparing for the elections scheduled for 2026, and maintaining the left-wing government in the current international situation is crucial for blocking the growth of far-right forces and ensuring the continuity of policies.” They further expressed the need for self-criticism regarding the past period in preparation for the next administration.

Furthermore, they condemned the imperialist strategy against Colombia. They strongly denounced the imperialist forces, stating that “the attempt to include Colombia, which borders both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, into NATO is a policy of aggression aimed at attacking all of Latin America.” They stated that maintaining the progressive government is essential to prevent this.

The women of the Colombian Communist Party explained that they “are leading three solidarity organizations related to the women’s movement in Colombia: the Colombian National Women’s Association, the Democratic Women’s Union, and the Women’s Peasant Committee. Through these associations, we organize and educate women workers and women peasants.”

They continued, “We are importantly carrying out work to solve and prevent the problem of violence against women,” and added that “these associations were important in elevating the role of women during key moments within Colombia in 2016 and 2019.”

The Platform emphasized that “US imperialism is currently threatening Latin America by targeting Venezuela and Colombia,” and that this is a time when “international solidarity within Latin America is raised as even more important.”

They further stressed that “the Defense Brigades currently being organized globally by the Platform are a struggle against the war crisis in various countries, going beyond the defense of Venezuela,” and that “the Defense Brigade of the ‘Republic of Korea (ROK)’ not only serves the purpose of international solidarity with Venezuela but will also spearhead the people’s anti-imperialist struggle if a war in the ‘ROK’ breaks out, while remaining vigilant against the war situation in the ‘ROK.'”

Finally, the Platform introduced the World Anti-Imperialist Women’s Platform, which was founded in October 2025, and stressed the importance of the women’s movement in Latin America. The core leaders and women of the Colombian Communist Party reaffirmed their resolve to elevate Colombia’s role in the international anti-imperialist struggle and overall international solidarity.

The Colombian Communist Party signed the Paris Declaration, pledging to increase Colombia’s activities in international anti-imperialist efforts.
