On Sunday, November 30th, the internationalist solidarity event with the people of Venezuela was successfully held with great public participation at the welcoming venue “Lofos art project” in Ano Kypseli (Athens, Greece). The event was co-organized by the World Anti-Imperialist Platform, the Revolutionary Theory Group, and the Greek Committee for Solidarity with Venezuela.
The first part of the documentary “Nicolás” (dedicated to the life and work of Venezuela’s leader, President Nicolás Maduro) was screened. This was followed by inspiring and particularly insightful speeches by the Ambassadors to Greece of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Freddy Jesús Fernández Torres, and of the Republic of Cuba, Aramis Fuente Hernández.
There followed interventions by V. Gonatas from the Greek Committee for Solidarity with Venezuela, and by D. Patelis, a member of the Working Group of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform. Subsequently—always with the valuable assistance of the excellent interpretation by Loukia Konstantinou—a fruitful dialogue developed through questions, answers, and interventions from the audience with the ambassadors of the two pioneering countries in the global anti-imperialist struggle. The discussion concerned the situation and future of Venezuela, Latin America, and the world, under conditions of the escalation of World War III across all active and potential theaters of operations and fronts (Ukraine, Palestine and West Asia, the South Caucasus and Central Asia, Africa, the Korean Peninsula, Taiwan, etc.).
A similar event for the screening of the second part of the documentary will follow.
