LA Korean-American Film Screening of ‘Nicolas’ and Solidarity Rally in Support of Venezuela

On December 5, the World Anti-Imperialist Platform organized an online screening of the first part of the film ‘Nicolas.’ The screening was co-hosted by the Korean American National Coordinating Council (KANCC) and the Korean-American Labor Struggle Solidarity Association (KALSSA).

One attendee shared their thoughts after watching the film: “We need to strengthen the political mobilization of the people from the grassroots. I agree with Chavez’s statement that the people and the army must unite their power. The coup was prevented because the army stood with the revolutionary forces.”

Other participant expressed various opinions: “I am outraged by the US imperialist schemes to colonize Venezuela,” and “I applaud Nicolás Maduro for deciding to give up a stable life as a baseball player and dedicate himself to his country and its people. The Korean American community is very interested in the democratization of Korea, but there is a significant gap in the perception of the DPRK. We must also fight against the mindsets distorted views of the DPRK. Fortunately, Venezuela does not have division, and they can unite in the anti-imperialist and anti-US struggle.”

They continued, “This film makes us reflect on the importance of leadership in revolutionary movements.” “It is a high-quality film that effectively showcases Maduro’s birth, growth, and his commitment to the revolutionary movement.” Korean Americans continued their solidarity by participating in a rally in downtown LA on December 6, denouncing US military threats against Venezuela.
