US President Donald Trump signaled that an expansion of military operations in the Caribbean to include ground operations is imminent.

During a bill-signing ceremony at the White House on December 12, US President Trump claimed that “We have blocked 96% of drugs entering through the sea,” in regard to the Caribbean ‘counter-narcotics’ operations.”

He also remarked, “We will now begin ground operations, and the ground is much easier. It will happen soon.”

At the same time, he added that ground operations in Venezuela are not necessarily required, noting that the targets are those bringing drugs into the US.
