PDP Holds Party Rallies, Delivers Protest Letter, and Unfurls Banners During Maduro Trial

People’s Democray Party (PDP) held overnight partyr rallies and protest actions in front of U.S. embassy.

From the night of the 5th into the early morning of the 6th, the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) held a series of party rallies in front of the U.S. Embassy in Seoul under the slogan “Free Maduro! Down with Imperialism!,” while also posting large protest banners across central Seoul.

During the rallies, PDP members forcefully chanted slogans including:
“Condemn U.S. imperialism’s invasion of Venezuela!”, “Relase Maduro!”, “Down with U.S. imperialism, the instigator of world war!”, “¡No pasarán! (They shall not pass!)”, “¡Victoria Siempre! ¡Venceremos! (Victory always! We shall overcome!)” and “Down with imperialism!”

Beginning with the third rally, the party actions were deliberately timed to coincide with the trial of President Maduro, starting at 1:45 a.m. local time, directly in front of the U.S. Embassy.

The Chair of the PDP Special Committee Against U.S. Imperialism and War stated in her speech:
“Public opinion across the world is condemning Trump, and protests are erupting globally against Trump’s invasion of Venezuela and the abduction and arrest of President Maduro and his wife. This invasion is a violation of sovereignty. What country in the world dares to apply its domestic law to abduct the legitimate president of another nation at dawn? The people of the world are enraged. This violates the UN Charter and international law and has become a target of international diplomatic condemnation.”

After concluding the rallies, PDP members attempted to move toward the U.S. Embassy to deliver a protest letter. However, police blocked their advance, stating that the U.S. Embassy had refused to accept the letter.

In response, the PDP held an additional protest speech condemning the South Korean police for obstructing the delivery of the protest letter to the U.S. Embassy. The party resolved to continue its struggle for the release of Maduro and the overthrow of imperialism.

Earlier on the night of the 5th, the PDP had also posted large banners reading “Free Maduro!, Down with Imperialism” throughout downtown Seoul.
