Paris Rally Demands Release of Venezuelan President and Condemns Imperialist Aggressions

Paris, February 3, 2026 — A rally calling for the release of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores was held today at Place de la République. The demonstration marked one month since the illegal abduction of the Venezuelan president and his spouse by U.S. imperialism.

The rally brought together a broad coalition of communist and anti-imperialist organizations in France, including the Venezuelan Embassy in France, the Union for Communist Reconstruction (URC), French Communist Organization (OCF), Pole of Communist Revival in France (PRCF), and Dynamique Unitaire Panafricaine (DUP), alongside other anti-imperialist groups. Representatives of the People’s Democracy Party (South Korea) and the World Anti-imperialist Platform were also in attendance.

In addition to French organizations supporting Venezuela, solidarity groups for Cuba and Palestine participated in the rally, emphasizing the need to strengthen unity among anti-imperialist countries and to intensify the global struggle against imperialism.

Speaking at the demonstration, Bruno Drweski, international secretary of the URC stated, “We are fully in solidarity with this demonstration, as with all demonstrations that aim to express solidarity with the struggle of the Venezuelan people for the liberation of Maduro and his wife, and for the sovereignty of Venezuela.” He added that “the struggle of Venezuela is also the struggle of all the peoples of Latin America.”

He further stressed that “In addition to Venezuela subjected to illegal sanctions, we also have Cuba under illegal sanctions. Therefore, the struggle of the peoples of Latin America must be supported—a struggle that obviously goes hand in hand with the struggle of the peoples of Africa and Asia against colonialism and neo-colonialism.”

Concluding the address, the speaker underscored the responsibility of activists living in imperialist countries: “We, who live in an imperialist country, at the very center of the beast, have the role of relaying the struggles of the peoples of the Global South against imperialism. This is the condition for also calling for the liberation of our working classes in France, in Europe, but also elsewhere, including in the United States.” He called for the unity of anti-imperialist forces and the international working class on a global scale.

Organizers announced that solidarity actions with Venezuela in France will continue in the coming period.
