On March 22, the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKOJ) organized the unveiling of a mural dedicated to the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and the First Lady of Venezuela, Cilia Flores, at the Zemun Quay in Belgrade. Maduro and his wife were kidnapped by the American regime on 3rd of January this year, and the mural itself was created ahead of President Maduro’s trial, scheduled for 26th of March. The author of the mural is artist and the member of SKOJ, Comrade Darko Pantelić.
The first to address those present was Aleksandar Đenić, Executive Secretary of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) and a member of the Zemun Municipal Assembly, who stated that he was proud that the mural, dedicated to staunch fighters against imperialism, had been created in his municipality. He also noted that the American regime, led by Donald Trump, is abolishing every illusion of international law and is starting to resemble some of the darkest criminals of the past, such as Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
First Secretary of SKOJ, Miloš Karavezić, stated in his adress that this mural represents SKOJ’s gift both to the citizens of Zemun and to the people of Venezuela, who continue to defend the Bolivarian Revolution and the ideas promoted by Chávez and Maduro. He also emphasized that it is the duty of the people of Serbia, who themselves were the victims of NATO’s imperialist aggression in 1999, to stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela, as well as with all the peoples and countries fighting against Western hegemony, such as Iran, Cuba, Russia, Palestine, China, and DPRK.
The Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Serbia, Her Excellency Jaidys Julieta Briceño, thanked SKOJ for uncompromisingly supporting the Venezuelan people in their struggle for independence, while also conveying greetings from President Maduro’s son. She pointed out that, while Maduro and his wife were unjustly imprisoned, the justice must prevail, and that the people of Venezuela are eagerly awaiting their return.
SKOJ expresses solidarity with President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, and demands their immediate release and return to Venezuela. Freedom-loving peoples around the world have a duty to support all those who oppose Western hegemony, and the symbols of that struggle today are Maduro and his wife!
FREE PRESIDENT MADURO IMMEDIATELY!
