Workers’ Party of Chile demands the release of the delegates of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform in Kenya
The Workers’ Party of Chile demands the immediate release of the delegates of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform detained in Kenya by the regime of William Ruto, following the violent repression exercised against demonstrations held within the framework of the 10th Anti-Imperialist Conference and in rejection of the “Africa Forward” Summit.
Among those detained are Lee Sanghun, former president of the People’s Democratic Party of South Korea; Joti Brar, chair of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist); Dimitrios Patelis, founding member of the Revolutionary Theory Group of Greece; and Song Danbee, director of the International Department of the People’s Democratic Party of South Korea. All of them are part of the international delegation of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform and were participating in legitimate and peaceful political activities.
We strongly condemn the deployment of military and police forces by the Kenyan government to suppress popular protest and persecute international anti-imperialist leaders. These actions confirm the authoritarian and repressive character of the William Ruto regime, which is subordinate to the interests of Western imperialism and international financial institutions.
The “Africa Forward” Summit constitutes a new phase of imperialist penetration in Africa, deepening the interference of the US, France, and Great Britain over the African peoples. The designation of Kenya as a major non-NATO ally of the USA and the strengthening of the foreign military presence in the country transform the Kenyan government into a platform for imperialist domination over the continent.
Since 2024, the William Ruto regime has intensified the repression against popular, trade union, and opposition organizations in the context of mobilizations against the IMF, neoliberalism, and economic plunder, leaving more than 130 dead, hundreds detained, and numerous disappeared.
The Labor Party of Chile expresses its total solidarity with the detained comrades, with the World Anti-Imperialist Platform, and with the Kenyan people facing repression and imperialist interventionism.
We demand:
The immediate and unconditional release of all detainees.
The cessation of repression against popular and anti-imperialist organizations in Kenya.
Respect for democratic freedoms and the right to protest.
The end of imperialist interference and foreign military presence in Africa.
Internationalist solidarity with the peoples in struggle!

Partido del Trabajo de Chile exige liberar a los delegados de la Plataforma Mundial antimperialista en Kenia
El Partido del Trabajo de Chile exige la inmediata liberación de los delegados de la Plataforma Mundial Antiimperialista detenidos en Kenia por el régimen de William Ruto, tras la violenta represión ejercida contra manifestaciones realizadas en el marco de la X Conferencia Antiimperialista y en rechazo a la Cumbre “Africa Forward”.
Entre los detenidos se encuentran Lee Sang-hun, ex representante del Partido Democrático del Pueblo de Corea del Sur; Joti Brar, representante del Partido Comunista de Gran Bretaña (Marxista-Leninista); Dimitris Patelis, miembro fundador del Grupo de Teoría Revolucionaria de Grecia; y Song Dan-bi, director del Departamento Internacional del Partido Democrático del Pueblo de Corea del Sur. Todos ellos forman parte de la delegación internacional de la Plataforma Mundial Antiimperialista y participaban en actividades políticas legítimas y pacíficas.
Condenamos enérgicamente el despliegue de fuerzas militares y policiales por parte del gobierno keniano para reprimir la protesta popular y perseguir a dirigentes antiimperialistas internacionales. Estas acciones confirman el carácter autoritario y represivo del régimen de William Ruto, subordinado a los intereses del imperialismo occidental y de los organismos financieros internacionales.
La Cumbre “Africa Forward” constituye una nueva fase de penetración imperialista en África, profundizando la injerencia de Estados Unidos, Francia y Gran Bretaña sobre los pueblos africanos. La designación de Kenia como aliado estratégico extra-OTAN de Estados Unidos y el fortalecimiento de la presencia militar extranjera en el país transforman al gobierno keniano en una plataforma de dominación imperialista sobre el continente.
Desde 2024, el régimen de Ruto ha intensificado la represión contra organizaciones populares, sindicales y opositoras en el contexto de las movilizaciones contra el FMI, el neoliberalismo y el saqueo económico, dejando más de 130 muertos, cientos de detenidos y numerosos desaparecidos.
El Partido del Trabajo de Chile expresa su total solidaridad con los compañeros detenidos, con la Plataforma Mundial Antiimperialista y con el pueblo keniano que enfrenta la represión y el intervencionismo imperialista.
Exigimos:
• La liberación inmediata e incondicional de todos los detenidos.
• El cese de la represión contra las organizaciones populares y antiimperialistas en Kenia.
• El respeto a las libertades democráticas y al derecho a la protesta.
• El fin de la injerencia imperialista y militar extranjera en África.
