[Statement of the World Anti-imperialist Platform]
Defeat the Ukrainian Neo-Nazi Regime, the Butchers of Starobelsk, and the Imperialist Forces Behind the Massacre!
The Ukrainian neo-Nazi forces bombarded civilian facilities and massacred civilians. Between May 21 and 22, the Ukrainian military launched three precision-guided bombing attacks using 16 suicide drones against a dormitory building of the Starobelsk College of Luhansk Pedagogical University. Students’ eyewitness testimony that the drones circled overhead for an extended period while precisely targeting the dormitory confirms that this was not a unintended misfire, but a deliberate act of international terrorism aimed at civilians. Under international humanitarian law, educational institutions are non-military facilities protected even during wartime, and there were no military installations of any kind in the vicinity of the university. Despite the deaths of 21 people, including teenage students, and injuries to 42 others in this terrorist massacre, the Ukrainian military has deceitfully claimed that the operation targeted elite Russian drone reconnaissance and command units.
The true perpetrators of this horrific massacre are both the Ukrainian neo-Nazis and the imperialist aggressor forces behind them. The astronomical amounts of military equipment and war funding poured into Ukraine by the USA and NATO — including HIMARS, ATACMS, and Storm Shadow missiles — have already been used for Ukraine’s war provocations against Russia and fascistic massacres. On the very day of the Starobelsk massacre, Zelensky sent a letter to the EU declaring that “the time is right to move forward with Ukraine’s membership in a full and meaningful way,” while in Sweden, NATO Secretary General Rutte and Ukrainian and Swedish authorities gathered to plot further military support for Ukraine. The deployment of attack UAVs and other lethal weapons used in this attack was based on signals intelligence shared by NATO.
This frenzied massacre of civilians is the dying scream of collapsing imperialism. While the imperialist camp is sinking deeper into contradictions due to the political and economic crises brought on by the Iran war and the China–US and China–Russia summits, the unity of the anti-imperialist camp is growing ever stronger. The imperialist aggressor forces are recklessly seeking a way out of their extreme crisis through the escalation of World War 3. Just as US imperialism and Israeli Zionism expanded the front lines by bombing a girls’ school in the Minab region and massacring 168 schoolgirls at the outset of the Iran war on February 28, the neo-Nazi Ukrainian forces likewise attacked dormitories and slaughtered youths ahead of the conclusion of the Russia–US peace agreement. For the imperialist aggressor forces, the end of war signifies the collapse of their strategy for World War 3. This tragedy clearly demonstrates who the true instigators of war and destroyers of peace are. As long as imperialism and fascist puppets exist, independence, peace, and the survival and development of humanity will never be possible.
The people of Donbass are advancing toward peace and liberation through life-and-death resistance and struggle. Since seizing power through the 2014 “Maidan coup,” the Ukrainian neo-Nazi forces have attacked Donbass for eight years, massacring officially 14,000 people and unofficially more than 50,000. Amid the harsh reality of relentless shelling and drone strikes, the people of Donbass are waging a desperate struggle to break the chains of oppression imposed by imperialism and neo-Nazi forces. The people of Donbass and the people of the world will surely bring the imperialist aggressor forces and the Ukrainian neo-Nazis before the stern judgment of history. The World Anti-Imperialist Platform firmly stands in solidarity with the heroic struggle of the people of Donbass and will hasten the overthrow of imperialism and fascism, the true culprits behind World War 3.
