On July 2, the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) staged protests in front of the Blue House (Presidential Office), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Turkish Embassy in Seoul, calling on the Erdoğan government to immediately release PDP youth members and participants in the World Anti-Imperialist Platform youth camp.
At around 3:00 a.m. on July 1, Turkish authorities under the Erdoğan administration raided the venue of the World Anti-Imperialist Youth Platform’s youth camp and forcibly detained more than 20 people, including members of the Youth Platform’s international delegation and youth activists from Türkiye. The detainees are currently being held at the Çanakkale Police Department.
In response, the PDP held public speeches in front of the Blue House and the ‘Republic of Korea’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, urging the government to take immediate action to secure the release of the detained youth participants. The party also delivered a letter calling for prompt diplomatic measures.
The protest then moved to the Turkish Embassy, where demonstrators continued their rally condemning the Erdoğan government and demanding the immediate release of those detained.
Following the rally, PDP members launched a 24-hour overnight vigil and one-person protest outside the Turkish Embassy, pledging to continue the action until all detained youth participants are released.
