Hope Bird performance at Queen’s Walk, London

On April 7th, Hope Bird, an artistic and musical troupe to sing for the reunification of Korea and for promoting anti-imperialist struggle all over the world, performed at the Queen’s Walk in London, UK.

The World Anti-imperialist Platform organized the European tour of Hope Bird. It started in Belgrade, Serbia which bombed by NATO 25 years ago, and continue to Bruxelles (Belgium), London (UK) and several cities in France.

The emcee introduced the Hope Bird as “Hope Bird is the South Korean theater troupe singing for reunification of Korea. Since the 1990s, ‘Hope Bird’ has been performing in various genres such as songs, plays, and musicals to contain the spirit of the fighters who fought for Korea’s independence, democracy, and reunification. ‘Hope Bird’ has not only sung the spirit, but has also fought in the front lines of the struggle. ‘Hope Bird’ expresses the hope that Korea, which was divided by foreign powers, will be united again. ‘Hope Bird’ sings to empower the people in Korea and around the world who fight to realise liberation and democracy.”

HopeBird sang the songs: “Song of May 1”, “Song of May 2”, “Song of May 3”, “Turn the earth and the sky over”, “Let morning shine”, “Fly high, dove”, “Listen, Yankee”.

They performed with Red Flag. It attracted attention of many citizens.

The representative of Hope Bird remarked “Many people around the world have suffered due to NATO and US imperialism. The situation of the Korean people have been in the same. Fighting against imperialism is the only way to achieve the true freedom and peace we want. Let’s make history with the power of the united people!”

They continued to sing “¡El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!”, “Hope Bird”, “Bella Ciao”, and “International”.

At the end of the performance, Christina Kostoula, Vice Chair of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist), contributed the flower to the members of HopeBird.
