On August 13, the World Anti-imperialist Platform, along with the People’s Democracy Party, the Headquarters for Anti-US struggle, the South Korean Office of the WFTU, held the joint demonstration in solidarity with Venezuela in front of the US embassy in Seoul.
Before the joint demonstration, the People’s Democracy Party had speeches with the banner of “Viva Maduro”. Party members chanted the slogans of “Hands off Venezuela!”, “We condemn the US for backing the coup!” and “Withdraw all NATO bases around the world!”.
After the speeches, the joint demonstration took place.
Standing representative of the Headquarters for the Anti-US struggle and the chairperson of the Incheon regional branch of the People’s Democracy Party spoke to support the recent presidential election in Venezuela.
The participants chanted “Hands off Venezuela!”, “The Bolivarian Revolution Must Win!”, “No to US imperialist backed-coup and intervention!”, “Withdraw all US and NATO military bases worldwide!” and “The People United Will Never Be Defeated!”
They sung “El Pueblo Unido Jamás Será Vencido” at the end and announced the statement.

The US aggressive forces must immediately take their hands off Venezuela!
The fascist forces in Venezuela are attempting a far-right coup. In a public statement on July 30, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez declared that they would decisively defeat the coup forged by fascists, extreme right wing activists, and imperialists. He mentioned that 23 military personnel and 25 police officers were wounded, and a National Guard sergeant died in coup attempts by fascists. As attending the 87th anniversary of the Bolivarian National Guard, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro Moros defined the far-right protest as an “imperialist coup d’état, which has fascist characteristics, full of hatred.” Meanwhile, the fact was revealed that 80% of 2,000 people who were arrested by recent coup attempts had been trained in Texas by the US government. The fascist forces also colluded with the drug trafficking Paramilitary group of Colombia and the fascist government of Peru.
As the world recognizes, Venezuela’s presidential election was legal and fair. On July 31, a group of international observers, including the former president of the UN Security Council, the American Association of Jurists, and former high-level officials from several Latin American countries, issued a joint preliminary report on the presidential election in Venezuela. According to the report, Venezuela’s electoral system was transparent and efficient, and the elections were carried out under normal conditions, guaranteeing all citizens the exercise of their constitutional right to vote. The observers emphasized that voting took place in a peaceful and orderly manner despite external pressure. Meanwhile, opposition PUD candidate Edmundo González did not appear in the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice despite claims that he had evidence of “fraudulent elections.” On the other hand, Maduro, who was re-elected, appeared before the Supreme Court and submitted the full minutes. Unlike the US, which babbled about “Venezuela’s illegal elections,” a total of 49 countries have recognized the results of Venezuela’s elections as of the 8th.
This time again, the US aggressive force was behind the coup. In January of this year, the US government reinstated sanctions on oil and gas transactions, saying that “Nicolas Maduro has arrested members of the democratic opposition and barred candidates from competing in this year’s presidential election.” The “democratic opposition” the US refers to is María Corina Machado, who belongs to the PUD. Machado maneuvered to have a US military presence in Venezuela and stage a right-wing coup. She was recently disqualified from the presidential candidate for calling for US military intervention. In an audio file released by Venezuelan authorities in April, Machado demanded that the US impose more sanctions on Venezuela until the “total financial suffocation” of her country. Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry has exposed that the opposition caused significant harm to the country by repeatedly calling on the US and Europe to impose more than 900 unilateral restrictions on Venezuela.
The US aggressive forces must immediately stop violating the sovereignty and interfering in the internal affairs of Venezuela. According to The Washington Post, the US sanctions against Venezuela were designed to arouse the distrust of the Maduro government and instigate the opposition (to overthrow the government) and caused a crisis that was three times more serious than the Great Depression of the US. There is no other reason why President Maduro defined the sanctions as an “Economic Genocide.” The purpose of the US aggressive forces’ manipulation of the coup with the fascist forces at the forefront is to provoke a so-called “Color Revolution” within Venezuela. Right after the Euromaidan coup – part of the “Color Revolution” – in Ukraine in 2014, the genocides had been committed in Odessa, Donbas, and other regions, and the war in Ukraine entered full swing in February, 2022. These facts show how anti-people and dangerous the coup currently being carried out in Venezuela is. No one shall violate the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people. Venezuelan people and the progressive people of the world will end the US imperialism immersed in aggression and domination, and advance the new world of independence and peace.

¡Las fuerzas agresoras de EEUU deben sacar inmediatamente sus manos de Venezuela!
Las fuerzas fascistas en Venezuela están intentando un golpe de extrema derecha. En una declaración pública el 30 de julio, el ministro de Defensa de Venezuela, Vladimir Padrino López, declaró que derrotarían decisivamente el golpe fraguado por fascistas, activistas de extrema derecha e imperialistas. Mencionó que 23 militares y 25 policías resultaron heridos, y un sargento de la Guardia Nacional murió en intentos golpistas de los fascistas. Al asistir al 87 aniversario de la Guardia Nacional Bolivariana, el presidente venezolano Nicolás Maduro Moros definió este golpe como un “golpe de Estado imperialista, que tiene características fascistas, lleno de odio”. Las fuerzas agresoras estadounidenses deben dejar de violar la soberanía e interferir en los asuntos internos de Venezuela. Según The Washington Post, las sanciones de EE.UU. contra Venezuela fueron diseñadas para generar desconfianza en el gobierno de Maduro e instigar a la oposición (para derrocar al gobierno) y causaron una crisis tres veces más grave que la Gran Depresión de EE.UU.. De ahí que el presidente Maduro haya definido las sanciones como un “Genocidio Económico”. El propósito de la manipulación golpista de las fuerzas agresivas de EEUU con las fuerzas fascistas al frente es provocar una llamada “Revolución de Colores” dentro de Venezuela. Justo después del golpe de Euromaidan – parte de la “Revolución de Color” – en Ucrania en 2014, se cometieron genocidios en Odessa, Donbas, y otras regiones, y la guerra en Ucrania entró en pleno apogeo en febrero de 2022. Estos hechos demuestran lo antipopular y peligroso que es el golpe de Estado que se está llevando a cabo en Venezuela. Nadie debe violar la soberanía del pueblo venezolano. El pueblo venezolano y los pueblos progresistas del mundo pondrán fin al imperialismo norteamericano inmerso en la agresión y la dominación, y avanzarán hacia el nuevo mundo de independencia y paz.
