In Taipei, Taiwan on Oct 5, Taipei Colloquium, “World War and the Tasks of the Anti-imperialist Forces” was held.
Amid the current turbulent situation, the delegation from the World Anti-imperialist Platform engaged in practical debates to analyze the state of anti-imperialist movement worldwide scientifically and to raise shared awareness of the sharp cross-strait relations and the war risks in Taiwan, as well as in East Asia and the Western Pacific, in collaboration with Taiwan’s anti-imperialist forces.
There were four sessions.
The first and second sessions, entitled “The Current International Situation and the World Anti-imperialist Movement” and “The World at the Crossroads of Revolution,” respectively, were presented by Dimitrios Patelis, the coordinator of the Central Council of the Revolutionary Unification (Greece), and Bahattin Özdemir, the activist from Yeni Donem Publishing (Turkey).
The third and fourth sessioins, entitled, “Taiwan Opposes ‘Taiwan Independence’ and Interference” and “A Comprehensive analysis of World War 3”, respectively, were presented by Wang Wulang, the Secretary General of the Labor Party (Taiwan), and Kim Dae-bong, the Secretary General of the People’s Democracy Party (“Republic of Korea”)
Before the event began, Wu Rong-yuan, President of the Labor Party (Taiwan), delivered the opening remarks, saying, “Through this colloquium, we hope to combine global anti-imperialist voices with Taiwanese anti-imperialist voices. At the critical moment in the world anti-imperialist peace movement, we call for the unity of the world anti-imperialist movement.” He outlined the key points, providing an explanation of the background of the colloquium, saying, “We would like to focus on the war in Ukraine, the ongoing war in West Asia (Middle East), the most dangerous Taiwan Strait, and the risk of war in “Republic of Korea”, all of which are of global importance.”
Dimitrios Patelis, the coordinator of the Central Council of the Revolutionary Unification (Greece), explained about Donbas 2014 uprising, focusing on the nature and the role of Ukraine War in the Eastern European battlefield. He also approach from an ideological and theoretical perspective and analyze counter-revolutionary processes the emerged after the dissolution of the USSR, the imperialist axis with the USA, provocations by war instruments including NATO.
Bahattin Özdemir, the activist from Yeni Donem Publishing (Turkey), pointed out that the imperialists are shaping Ukraine as an “anti-Russia” and using it to destroy and devour Russia, they want to shape and use Taiwan as an “anti-China.”
Wang Wulang, the Secretary General of the Labor Party (Taiwan), criticized, “The issue of division is a result of the interference by the US imperialism, and now, through the Taiwan Policy Act, it challenges China’s peaceful reunification policy. The audience’s attention was focused on the clear position of the Labor Party (Taiwan), and a practical debate followed with an explanation of the current difficult situation after the Democratic Progressive Party that represents indigenous capitalism came to power.
Secretary General Kim Dae-bong explained, “The war in Taiwan and the war in ”Republic of Korea“ is connected and they are the flashpoints of the East Asian War and the Western Pacific War. He analyzed World War III as an anti-imperialist war based on the anti-imperialist front, comparing it to World War II.
In conclusion, President Wu Rong-yuan mentioned, “After World War 2, Taiwan was liberated and returned back to the motherland, but the anti-communist military group that retreated to Taiwan following their defeat in the Chinese Civil War of 1949 continued its anti-communist rule, implementing a anti-communist military martial law system for nearly 40 years, relying on the US hegemony,” adding, “The dominant perception in Taiwanese society, based on anti-communist ideology, stems from the US neo-colonialism and dependent capitalism. The historically persistent issues of the Taiwan Strait and the contradictions in cross-strait relations can only be resolved through the people’s liberation movement, under special historical conditions, that leads Taiwan back to the socialist motherland.
