Bahattin Özdemir, an activist from Yeni Donem Publishing (Turkey), presented on the topic, “The World is at the Crossroads of Revolution” during the second session, “World War and the Tasks of Anti-imperialist forces” in Taipei, Taiwan on Oct 5.
“In the main conflict theatres of the upcoming worldwide war, tensions are increasing daily,” he said, listing US aggressions such as NATO’s brutal war of destruction against Yugoslavia in 1999, the 9/11 provocations, and the First Gulf War. He retorted, “Imperialists’ show off force is a declaration that no country will be allowed to exist outside of imperialist hegemony. It was the bloody expression of the “full annexation process.”
He added, Russia, a military power appeared against the imperialist aggression, mobilized their troops to support Syria in 2015, and Putin’s famous speech in Munich in 2007 was a declaration that Russia would not surrender to the “full annexation process” imposed by the imperialists,“ saying, ”In 2015, sending troops to Syria to support Damascus was a concrete challenge.”
He said, “Therefore, today, to remind those who are directly or indirectly on the side of the imperialist-reactionary front on the pretexts of neutrality, being against war, and defending peace; it is necessary to make it clear that they did not take part in the anti-fascist front,” adding, “In today’s conditions, there are not only imperialist-reactionary divisions, wars of plunder; besides these, there are also revolutionary wars against fascism, imperialism and capitalism.”
“Not only the heroic war of the Palestinian people but also the internal contradictions triggered by this war and the class war rising based on these contradictions have brought Zionist Israel to the brink of destruction,” he said, raising his voice, “Relying on the support of the imperialist and reactionary states, especially the US and British imperialism, Israel is now launching an attack on Lebanon.”
He also mentioned that to completely defeat the imperialism and its Zionist apparatus, Palestinian people are demonstrating the high spirit of sacrifice not only for their sons and daughters, but also for the liberation of the whole people, adding, “This sacrifice finds its echo all over the world. All socialist countries, especially the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, unquestionably support Palestine.” He emphasized, “Except for a handful of imperialist parasites and their close satellites in the United Nations, all the peoples of the world stand by the heroic Palestinian people.”
He highlighted “Republic of Korea” and Taiwan as the most tense area in East Asia, and concerned about the expansion of NATO to the Pacific, which extends to Japan, Australia, and the Philippines, adding, “Aggression is being developed against the DPRK through the fascist government of South Korea and against China through Japan-the Philippines-Australia and Taiwan.”
In conclusion, he stated, “Our world is at a crossroads … On the one hand, we are experiencing global uprisings, revolts, revolutions, revolutionary attempts, a chain of anti-capitalist actions, and revolutionary developments; on the other hand, the collapse of the imperialist-capitalist system. On one side we have the nuclear catastrophe and the war of destruction, which means destruction of all humanity and nature; on the other side, we have the global revolutionary situation and civil war developing all over the world,” and added forcefully, “Now is the time for revolution!”
