Kim Dae-bong, the Secretary General of the People’s Democracy Party (“Republic of Korea”) stated, “The storm of World War 3, unleashed by the imperialism camp, is blowing from Eastern Europe through West Asia (Middle East) to East Asia and the West Pacific. The war in Ukraine began in 2014 with the Euromaidan coup d’état carried out by the Ukrainian neo-Nazi forces, the puppet of the US imperialist aggressors, and intensified with the eight-year war in Donbas, and entered full swing with Russia’s Special Military Operation in February 2022.”
He explained, “World war 3 began with the war in Ukraine in February 2022 and intensified with the war in Palestine and West Asia, which broke out in October 2023 with the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’,” adding, “The war in Ukraine in Eastern Europe, and mobilizing tactical nuclear weapons due to the dangerous provocations of the imperialist camp, including the US”
He pointed out, “The war in West Asia has also reached a bursting point by the Israeli Zionists,” saying, “Israel is believed to have used the F-35 stealth aircraft to kill the chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau, which is impossible without the help of the US in light of its range and operational capabilities. In addition, he emphasized, “The imperialist camp is trying to make World War 3 in earnest with the opening of the Western Pacific war along with the expansion of the war in Eastern Europe and West Asia, and to fully implement the ‘New Cold War’ system,” adding, “The plot for the Western Pacific war was on full display at the Washington NATO Summit in July. The US-NATO slandered the Treaty on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Russia in June and forcibly linked the situation in Eastern Europe and East Asia, accusing China of supporting Russia. They invited the ‘Republic of Korea (ROK),’ Japan, Australia, and New Zealand to the NATO summit for three consecutive years, starting from the Madrid Summit in 2022, and finally completed the “Pacificization of NATO” at the Washington Summit.”
He highlighted, “The ‘Northeast Asian NATO’ is particularly noteworthy. The US, Japan, and the ‘ROK’ agreed on NATO-style collective defense principles at the Camp David Conference in August 2023 to form the ‘Northeast Asian NATO’. In December 2023, they activated a real-time DPRK missile warning data sharing mechanism to integrate military intelligence and accelerated the ‘unitization’ of the three countries’ military forces by holding frequent joint military exercises that mobilized US strategic assets. In June this year, they fully realized the ‘Northeast Asian NATO’ through the NATO-style military exercise ‘Freedom Edge’.”
In conclusion, “Humanity has the historical experience of turning World War 2, which began as an inter-imperialist war, into an antifascist war that was victorious and then entering a period of the great upswing of revolution. He also shared the news of fascist crackdown on the People‘s Democracy Party (PDP) on August 30, closely related to the current international situation, and the participants united in solidarity with PDP, holding the slogans, “Down with fascist war-monger Yoon Suk-yeol!”, “Abolish the National Security Law!”, “Condemn the fascist repression of PDP!”

World War 3 in earnest and a period of new great upswing
The storm of World War 3, unleashed by the imperialist camp, is blowing from Eastern Europe through West Asia (Middle East) to East Asia and the West Pacific. The war in Ukraine began in 2014 with the Euromaidan coup d’état carried out by the Ukrainian neo-Nazi forces, the puppet of the US imperialist aggressors, and intensified with the eight-year war in Donbas, and entered full swing with Russia’s Special Military Operation in February 2022. World War 3 began with the war in Ukraine in February 2022 and intensified with the war in Palestine and West Asia, which broke out in October 2023 with the “Al-Aqsa Flood” Operation. The war in Palestine to end 75 years of Zionist-Israeli oppression expanded to West Asia as soon as it began and intensified with the participation of the “Axis of Resistance,” which is an anti-Zionist armed force that includes Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Yemen’s Ansar Allah army.
Currently, the US-led imperialist camp is viciously plotting the expansion of the war in Ukraine into Eastern Europe and the full realization of the war in West Asia. The Ukrainian neo-Nazi army has invaded Kursk, which is Russia’s mainland, and has extremely provoked the Russian authorities not only with threats against Zaporizhia but also with threats of detonation of a nuclear power plant, especially in Kursk. Meanwhile, the US and NATO, which have been gradually lifting the restrictions on using their-made and provided weapons against the Russian mainland since May, are now taking steps to lift the restrictions on targeting the Russian mainland with offensive missiles. The escalation of the imperialist and neo-Nazi aggressive maneuvers against Russia will force Russia to lift the restrictions on tactical nuclear in response. Northeast Asia plus Southeast Asia makes East Asia. Australia and New Zealand added to it equals the Western Pacific. The plot for the Western Pacific war was on full display at the Washington NATO Summit in July. The various multinational joint military exercises that took place in the Pacific Ocean from June to August before and after the Washington NATO Summit frankly demonstrate the imperialist maneuver for the Western Pacific war. The Exercise “Valiant Shield,” held from June 7 to 18 in Guam, Japan, etc., was originally a US-single exercise. Still, for the first time this year, it was transformed into a multinational exercise with the participation of the Japan Ground, Maritime, and Air “Self-Defense Forces” and the navies of NATO members Canada and France. From mid-June to mid-August, the largest multinational air exercise ever, “Pacific Skies,” was held, in which, especially from July 19 to 25, pan-European forces and the Japan Self-Defense Forces conducted joint military exercises in Hokkaido and the Kanto region of Japan. The Exercise “Freedom Edge,” held from June 27 to 29 near the “ROK,” was the first multidomain joint military exercise between the US, Japan, and the “ROK.” Of the 29 countries that participated in the Exercise “Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC),” held from June 26 to August 2, nine were NATO members, the highest number ever. More than 25,000 troops from the pro-US belligerent countries in the West Pacific and NATO member states gathered for this exercise to conduct the largest multinational joint military exercise targeting the DPRK and China, demonstrating the “Pacificization of NATO” was fully implemented. From July 12 to August 2, the multinational aviation exercise “Pitch Black” was held with 20 countries participating, hosted by Australia, and from July 29 to August 13, the Exercise “Pacific Dragon” was hosted by the US 3rd Fleet.
The US imperialist aggressors are deepening their war plots by forming a military bloc with the pro-US belligerent countries in the Western Pacific. In September 2021, the US, UK, and Australia formed the AUKUS; in August 2023, the US, Japan, and the “ROK” formed the “Northeast Asian NATO,” and in April 2024, the US, Japan, Australia, and the Philippines formed the S-QUAD. The AUKUS is a military alliance in the Pacific and an anti-China coalition. The US decided to transfer its nuclear-powered submarine construction technology to Australia when launching the AUKUS, and in April 2022, they issued a joint statement on strengthening military ties, including the joint development of invasive military weapons. In response, the Chinese Foreign Ministry condemned it as “further intensifying the arms race in the Pacific and destroying peace and stability in the region.”
The “SQUAD,” fabricated with India removed from the QUAD and the Philippines added, revealed its anti-Chinese aggressive nature during “maritime cooperative activity” in the South China Sea in April 2024. The “SQUAD” serves as a de facto way for the US to connect the islands of Japan, Okinawa, Taiwan, and the Philippines to block China from controlling the first island chain.

The fact that Japan is directly or indirectly involved in most of the military blocs in the Western Pacific demonstrates that Japanese militarist forces are the storm troops of the Western Pacific war. Japan is included not only in the “Northeast Asian NATO” and “SQUAD” but also in the “Pillar 2,” which focuses on jointly developing advanced military capabilities of the AUKUS. Meanwhile, the US is using Japan as a launch base for the Western Pacific War in order to prevent China’s maritime expansion, which is an obstacle to making the Pacific an “US inland sea,” since Japan is at the core of the first island chain connecting Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines, and the second island chain connecting the Ogasawara Islands, Guam, Saipan, and Papua New Guinea in the Western Pacific.
The US-Japan Summit in April and the US-Japan Defense and Foreign Ministerial Meeting in July this year confirmed creating the Japan Ground, Maritime, and Air Self-Defense Forces Joint Operations Command and a unified command within the US Forces Japan (USFJ) by the end of the fiscal year 2024, effectively “unifying” them, and transferring the operational command authority of the USFJ from the US Indo-Pacific Command in Hawaii to a unified command of the USFJ in Japan. Thus, the Japan Self-Defense Forces have been completely transformed into a Japanese army and a Japanese militarized invasion force.
The US imperialist invasion force has completed its preparations to launch the war in Taiwan against China and the war in the “ROK” against the DPRK by organizing the pro-US warmonger forces in the Philippines and the “ROK” under Japanese militarism. In April of this year, the US, Japan, and the Philippines announced an “unprecedented level of enhanced security alliance” and agreed to “cooperate” to contain China at their first summit. In July, Japan and the Philippines elevated their relationship to the level of a “quasi-military alliance” by signing the Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA). Japan has decided to install coastal surveillance radars in the Philippines and will likely formally participate in the upcoming US-Philippine joint military exercise “Balikatan.”
The “ROK” President Yoon Suk-yeol is a pro-US warmonger and pro-Japanese traitor. On July 28, the day of the US-Japan Defense and Foreign Ministerial meeting, the US, Japan, and the “ROK” further strengthened the trilateral military bloc by agreeing to systematize and regularize the multi-domain joint military exercise “Freedom Edge” and trilateral high-level meetings through the “Memorandum of Cooperation on Security Cooperation Framework.” On July 27, the day before the trilateral defense ministers’ meeting, Yoon Suk-yeol, a fascist puppet of the US imperialist aggressors, agreed to remove the phrase “for forced labor” from the UNESCO World Heritage List of the “Sado Island Gold Mines” on July 27, making him an accomplice in Japan’s distortion of history. While President Yoon, who has been acquiescing to Japan’s “sovereignty over Dokdo,” has minimized the Dokdo defense drills and held them behind closed doors, he has taken steps to bring Japanese militarist forces to the vicinity of Dokdo and to turn Dokdo into a “joint operation zone” every chance he gets, giving Dokdo, the unique territory of the Korean people, into the hands of Japanese militarist forces. The three countries have decided to re-conduct the Freedom Edge exercise at the end of the year, and they are working together to bring about the war in the “ROK” and the Western Pacific War.
Above all, the US-“ROK” provocation against the DPRK to make war in the “ROK” has long since passed its limit. Last year, the US nuclear strategic assets appeared on the Korean Peninsula and its surrounding areas once every ten days, and the war exercises were conducted once every five days. From January to April 2024, the US-“ROK” joint military exercises were conducted about 80 times, and the “ROK” military exercises were separately conducted about 60 times. In March and April, more than twice as many joint military exercises against the DPRK were carried out compared to the same period in 2023. From April to June, the US strategic asset-weapons systems entered the Korean Peninsula 6 times.
The US and “ROK” virtually adopted a joint guidance document containing the integration of the US nuclear forces and the “ROK”’ conventional forces in the event of a so-called “North Korean nuclear attack” at the NCG (Nuclear Consultative Group) meeting and put it into practice through the “Iron Mace” joint military exercise from July 30 to August 1 and the “Ulchi Freedom Shield” which is the large-scale joint military exercise from August 19 to 29.
Yoon Suk-yeol, who is currently in the worst political crisis, is preparing for “martial law” and a coup d’état while simultaneously provoking a local war and deepening fascist oppression. Yoon’s warmongering forces are plotting a local war by simultaneously resuming exercises to invade the DPRK in the Military Demarcation Line area and they are escalating the situation by formalizing the aggressive “system unification” on August 15. Yoon Suk-yeol created a private organization, installed fascist puppets in important political and military posts for the declaration of martial law, and deepened the fascist political situation by slandering the anti-Yoon Suk-yeol public sentiment as “anti-state forces.” Currently, progressive and reformist forces in the “ROK” are predicting the level of “martial law” as a fait accompli. Above all, the raid and search of the People’s Democracy Party (PDP), a constitutional party and the only revolutionary party of the working class in the “ROK” on August 30, clearly shows Yoon Suk-yeol’s “martial law” conspiracy. Yoon Suk-yeol’s Hitler-style suppression of political parties, in which he raided and searched the PDP, the far-left party, and the Democratic Party, the far-right party, and the former president’s family home, on the same day, excluding the far-right fascist parties, is a signal for “martial law” and a coup d’état, and at the same time, a reflection of his evil intention to clean up the rear before starting a war in the “ROK.”
If the war in the “ROK” breaks out, a war in Taiwan will also break out. Article 2 of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance between the DPRK and China, signed on July 11, 1961, stipulates that “if either Contracting Party is attacked by an armed force by a country or a coalition of countries and finds itself in a state of war, the other Contracting Party shall promptly provide military and other assistance by all means at its disposal.” It is presumed that this treaty was reaffirmed through a total of five summits between General Secretary Kim Jong-un and President Xi Jinping in 2018 and 2019.
If the wars in the “ROK” and Taiwan break out, the Western Pacific War will surely break out, and the main battlefield of World War 3 will be the Western Pacific. The intention of the imperialist camp to launch World War 3 is to prevent the revival of the anti-imperialist camp, to deflect the military, political, and economic crisis within the imperialist camp, and to form the “New Cold War” system. In the Western Pacific, all the anti-imperialist camp’s nuclear and missile superpowers of the DPRK, China, and Russia are located. The rise of the anti-imperialist camp is evident in the stark contrast between the BRICS and the G7. Their contribution to global GDP (Gross Domestic Product) was 25.6% vs. 35.1% in 2009, reversed to 31.5% vs. 30% in 2023, and its gap is projected to widen further to 33.6% vs. 27.8% in 2028. The fact that the debt-to-GDP ratio of all G7 countries except Germany exceeds 100% shows the severity of the economic crisis of the imperialist camp.
The imperialist camp has revealed its maneuver for the Western Pacific war and “New Cold War” strategy by accusing Russia and Iran, which are currently at war, as well as Korea and China, which are not even at war, of being the “new axis of aggressors.” The reason why the imperialist camp is manipulating the “New Cold War” system is because the socialist camp was defeated in the “Cold War.” The “Cold War,” which was manipulated immediately after World War 2, and the “New Cold War,” which began with World War 3, both have in common that they are a reflection of the fragility of modern imperialism and are accompanied by the imperialist camp’s vicious and despicable aggression against the opposite camp. During the “Cold War,” the socialist camp’s internal contradictions were amplified by the Soviet Union’s revisionist degeneration and the Sino-Soviet conflict over socialist principles. What is happening today? The DPRK, China, and Russia are the strongest they have ever been in terms of their military and political power and strategic and tactical cooperation among the three countries. In particular, the DPRK, which was a newly emerging national liberation country during the “Cold War,” is now a nuclear and missile superpower and the most principled socialist country.
Meanwhile, the key to the US imperialist global hegemonic strategy, revealed in “The Giant Chessboard strategy,” is the division and occupation of China and Russia and the colonization of the entire Korean Peninsula. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russia became a de facto colony of the US, and NATO forces invaded Yugoslavia and violently divided and occupied it. This is why the US imperialist aggressors deny China’s policies of “One China” and “One Country, Two Systems” while pulling the strings of the “Color Revolutions” in Hong Kong and Taiwan, the Tibetan “government-in-exile” and the terrorist organization ETIM (Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement), intensifying isolation and oppression against the DPRK, and slandering the DPRK and China as “anti-human rights states.” These facts show that the imperialist strategy of world hegemony has been maintained from the past to the present and that the anti-imperialist camp has no other way but to fight ferociously against the imperialist camp.
The imperialist camp never surpasses the anti-imperialist camp in pretext, force, and operation. The imperialist pretext for war has long since been shattered by the logical contradictions between its anti-Russian and pro-Israeli propaganda. On the other hand, the anti-imperialist camp is fighting to realize the great cause of antifascism, liberation, and reunification, which even the imperialist camp can never deny. The political and economic crisis of US-European imperialism and fascist forces in Ukraine, Israel, Japan, and the “ROK” demonstrates the weakness of the imperialist camp’s forces. The forces of the anti-imperialist camp consist of the three main forces, the DPRK, China, and Russia, and the four basic forces, including Iran, plus the anti-imperialist mass movements in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and the anti-war and peace movements in imperialist countries as auxiliary forces.
In response to the imperialist camp’s proxy, expeditionary, and non-nuclear hybrid warfare, the anti-imperialist camp is employing direct, close-to-mainland, and tactical nuclear-included hybrid warfare. Also, recently, it has been crushing the imperialist camp’s war tactics with its “strategic patience” and delaying operations against the imperialist camp’s provocations for war expansion. In short, the anti-imperialist camp is superior in pretext, is overwhelming in forces, and has advantages in operations.
