In Oct 19th, The Ukrainian military on Sunday hit a military facility in the Russian mainland with a US long-range missile, the ATACMS, two days after the US lifted restrictions on its use on.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the Ukrainian military fired six ATACMS at a military installation in the western Russian province of Bryansk in the early hours of the day.
Missile fragments fell to the ground and caused a fire at the military facility, which was quickly extinguished, the ministry said, adding that there were no casualties or material damage.
“For the first time, our armed forces used ATACMS to attack Russian territory,” the Ukrainian military said.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces insisted that “The destruction of ammunition depots for the army of the Russian occupiers to stop the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine will continue.”
The same day, Kremlin spokesperson Peskov warned that “The use of Western missiles by Ukraine may be considered an attack by a non-nuclear state with nuclear support, potentially justifying Russia’s use of nuclear weapons.”
On the same day, Russian President Putin signed a presidential decree amending the nuclear doctrine to allow the use of nuclear weapons against non-nuclear-weapon states that receive military support from nuclear-weapon states.
