MI6, the British Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), has revealed that a covert operation in support of Ukraine is ongoing.
Speaking at a ceremony in Paris on Monday to mark the 120th anniversary of the Entent Cordiale, Richard Moore, the chief of the British SIS, and Nicolas Lerner, the head of French General Directorate for External Security, were among those present.
Moore emphasized that “we cherish our heritage of covert action which we keep alive today in helping Ukraine resist the Russian invasion”, noting that while the cost of supporting Ukraine is great, the cost of not supporting Ukraine is infinitely greater.
He also argued that If Putin succeeds, China would weigh the implications, the DPRK would be emboldened, and Iran would become yet more dangerous.
Putin would not stop at turning Ukraine into a vassal state, he added, but would jeopardize the security of allies across the Atlantic, including the United Kingdom, France, and Europe.
Nicolas Lernar also noted that the war in Ukraine has jeopardized the security of all European countries, and that events in the Indo-Pacific region could also jeopardize the future of the world.
