Chad begins withdrawal of French troops

The withdrawal of French troops from Chad began on December 10 after the government of Chad terminated a military agreement with France on November 28.

The French military confirmed that two fighter jets from N’Djamena returned to their base in eastern France.

In Africa, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger have already kicked out French troops, and Senegal recently called for the closure of French military bases in its country.

One Russian media outlet analyzed that France’s once dominant influence on the African continent is slipping away.
