Following the conclusion of the Alaska Summit between US President Trump and Russian President Putin on August 15, Zelensky is set to meet with Trump in Washington, D.C. on August 18.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump revealed that he had discussed a possible territorial exchange with Putin, saying, “I think we’re pretty close to a deal, Ukraine has to agree to it.”
Trump also shared the contents of the summit during a call with Zelensky, stating that “Putin had offered to freeze most front lines if Kyiv ceded all of Donetsk.” This was reportedly a proposal from Putin.
Meanwhile, CNN reported that Trump hopes to arrange a three-way summit with himself, Zelensky, and Putin, assuming the upcoming meeting with Zelensky goes well. He has set the 22nd as the deadline for the proposed three-way summit.
