On August 18, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced that the country would mobilize 4.5 million members of civilian military forces nationwide in response to the growing threat of a US invasion.
Maduro stated that Venezuela would not only strengthen civilian military groups in both urban and rural areas, but also organize combat capabilities within all factories, emphasizing that these measures are intended to ensure the nation’s peace and security.
Earlier, the Venezuelan Ministry of Defense condemned the United States for attempting to carry out aggressive military actions in the Caribbean under the pretext of an “anti-drug operation.”
