From September 12 to 14, Henry Parra, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), and National Assembly member Griseldys Herrera participated in France’s Fête de l’Humanité, alongside Roy Daza, a National Assembly member from the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).
At the festival, they took part in both forums organized by two French communist organizations—the PRCF (Pôle de Renaissance Communiste en France) and the URC (Union pour la Reconstruction Communiste). During these events, they exposed the acts of aggression committed by US imperialism against Venezuela and expressed Venezuela’s firm determination to resist.
Henry Parra stated, “Today we are here to ask for solidarity from the people of Europe and the people of the world, as our people are surrounded by imperialism. The United States aims to destroy everything the Venezuelan revolution has built and seize our country’s vast resources—oil, gold, gas, water. We are a people of peace, but we are preparing for war. We will live freely, and we will not be colonized.”
Roy Daza emphasized, “Over 8 million members of the militia are heading to the country’s key military bases from 285 locations nationwide. This is the largest popular and military mobilization in recent Venezuelan history. Our revolution is clearly peaceful, but if there is a military attack by mercenary forces or the US army, we will initiate armed resistance and declare a republic in arms.”
The participants also took part in a pro-Palestinian solidarity rally organized by the Lebanese Communist Party, holding signs with slogans “Free Palestine” and “Hands off Venezuela.”
Organized since 1930 by the progressive French newspaper L’Humanité, the Fête de l’Humanité marked its 95th anniversary this year and remains the largest progressive festival in Europe.
