A delegation of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform (the Platform) visited Lima, Peru, from November 26 to 28, holding meetings with the Peruvian Communist Party and the the Peruvian Federation of Civil Construction Workers (FTCCP).
On November 27, the FTCCP welcomed the delegation ahead of a nationwide workers’ mobilization scheduled for that same day.
Founded in 1958 under the guidance of José Carlos Mariátegui, the founder of the Peruvian Communist Party, the FTCCP is affiliated with the General Confederation of Peruvian Workers (CGTP). The secretary-general of the CGTP currently serves as a vice-president of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU).
During the visit, FTCCP leaders introduced the delegation to various facilities inside their headquarters—including the broadcasting room, propaganda department, training classrooms, and medical services for workers.
Both sides exchanged analysis of the escalating U.S. military threat against Venezuela and broader Latin America. They discussed the organization of defense brigades and ways to strengthen ties between the FTCCP and the Platform.
FTCCP representatives emphasized that they closely follow the Platform’s activities through the Peruvian Communist Party, saying that “we are ready to join the solidarity efforts for Venezuela.”
They further noted that they are “exploring defense brigade initiatives for our Venezuelan brothers,” adding that “this meeting with the Platform is extremely important. We always act from an internationalist standpoint, and we are prepared to defend all our brothers across this continent. As communists, we stand united with them.”
The same day, the delegation held a meeting with the party leadership of the Peruvian Communist Party, including General Secretary Domingo Cabrera Toro, the International Secretary, members of the Political Bureau, and representatives of the women’s and youth fronts.
During the discussion, the delegation reaffirmed the conclusion of the 9th International Anti-Imperialist Conference in Caracas to build the defense brigade. They presented updates on brigade initiatives being organized worldwide and highlighted one of the concrete actions underway—the international screening of the film “Nicolás.”
The delegation warned that “a dangerous situation is unfolding as the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier group operates in the Caribbean. The U.S. attack on Venezuela is an attack on all of Latin America, a violation of the entire region. Conversely, defending Venezuela means defending all of Latin America and preventing the full escalation into World War 3.”
“What is needed now goes beyond general solidarity action. It is an emergency political struggle,” they stressed the urgency of the moment.
General Secretary Cabrera responded that “we are already prepared, and we have begun organizing the defense brigade. We agree with the political importance of the film ‘Nicolás.’ What is required now is concrete action.”
Meanwhile, the Women’s Commission of the Peruvian Communist Party held a commemorative event marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, honoring the historic women militants of the party. The Platform conveyed greetings, emphasizing “the decisive role of women in the liberation of Latin America.”
«Explorando iniciativas de defensa para los hermanos venezolanos», dijeron los luchadores antiimperialistas peruanos
Una delegación de la Plataforma Mundial Antiimperialista (la Plataforma) visitó Lima, Perú, del 26 al 28 de noviembre, y se reunió con el Partido Comunista del Perú y la Federación de Trabajadores de la Construcción Civil del Perú (FTCCP).
El 27 de noviembre, la FTCCP recibió a la delegación antes de una movilización nacional de trabajadores programada para ese mismo día.
Fundada en 1958 bajo la dirección de José Carlos Mariátegui, fundador del Partido Comunista Peruano, la FTCCP está afiliada a la Confederación General de Trabajadores del Perú (CGTP). El secretario general de la CGTP es actualmente vicepresidente de la Federación Sindical Mundial (FSM).
Durante la visita, los dirigentes de la FTCCP mostraron a la delegación diversas instalaciones de su sede, entre ellas la sala de radiodifusión, el departamento de propaganda, las aulas de formación y los servicios médicos para los trabajadores.
Ambas partes intercambiaron análisis sobre la escalada de la amenaza militar estadounidense contra Venezuela y América Latina en general. Debatieron la organización de brigadas de defensa y las formas de fortalecer los lazos entre la FTCCP y la Plataforma.
Los representantes de la FTCCP destacaron que siguen de cerca las actividades de la Plataforma a través del Partido Comunista Peruano y afirmaron que «están listos para unirse a los esfuerzos de solidaridad con Venezuela».
Además, señalaron que están «explorando iniciativas de brigadas de defensa para nuestros hermanos venezolanos» y añadieron que «esta reunión con la Plataforma es extremadamente importante. Siempre actuamos desde un punto de vista internacionalista y estamos preparados para defender a todos nuestros hermanos de este continente. Como comunistas, estamos unidos a ustedes».
El mismo día, la delegación se reunió con la dirección del Partido Comunista del Perú, incluyendo al secretario general Domingo Cabrera Toro, al secretario internacional, a miembros del Buró Político y a representantes de los frentes de mujeres y jóvenes.
Durante el debate, la delegación reafirmó la conclusión de la IX Conferencia Internacional Antiimperialista de Caracas de crear la brigada de defensa. Presentaron información actualizada sobre las iniciativas de la brigada que se están organizando en todo el mundo y destacaron una de las acciones concretas en curso: la proyección internacional de la película «Nicolás».
La delegación advirtió que «se está desarrollando una situación peligrosa con la operación del grupo de portaaviones USS Gerald R. Ford en el Caribe. El ataque de Estados Unidos a Venezuela es un ataque a toda América Latina, una violación de toda la región. Por el contrario, defender a Venezuela significa defender a toda América Latina y evitar la escalada total hacia la Tercera Guerra Mundial».
«Lo que se necesita ahora va más allá de una acción solidaria general. Se trata de una lucha política de emergencia», subrayaron la urgencia del momento.
El secretario general Cabrera respondió que «ya estamos preparados y hemos comenzado a organizar la brigada de defensa. Estamos de acuerdo con la importancia política de la película Nicolás. Lo que se requiere ahora es una acción concreta».
Mientras tanto, la Comisión de Mujeres del Partido Comunista Peruano celebró un acto conmemorativo con motivo del Día Internacional para la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer, en homenaje a las históricas militantes del partido. La Plataforma transmitió sus saludos, haciendo hincapié en «el papel decisivo de las mujeres en la liberación de América Latina».
