A rally in support of the people of Venezuela was held in Belgrade at Republic Square. On behalf of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ), Comrades Aleksandar Đenić and Ilija Živković addressed those present. Also attending the rally were the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Serbia, Mohamed Al Namur, as well as representatives of the Socialist Movement, RNP-f, the Network for the Defense of Humanity, and the Serbian–Cuban Friendship Society.
Comrade Živković emphasized that the people of Venezuela, led by President Maduro, are under enormous pressure from the West, primarily the United States and Trump, who are attempting to overthrow the Bolivarian Revolution in order to install a servile regime according to U.S. interests. In doing so, they rely on false accusations, such as those against President Maduro for drug trafficking, while at the same time American “pirates” are seizing Venezuelan oil tankers and blocking the navigation of Venezuelan ships in the Caribbean. Parallel to this, they are awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to the American pawn María Corina Machado, who openly calls for aggression against her own country.
Comrade Đenić pointed out that if there is anyone in Europe who understands the people of Venezuela, it is the Serbian people and the citizens of Serbia. During the 1990s, Serbia and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia were targets of the United States, Western imperialism, and the NATO pact. The Serbian people and the citizens of Serbia know very well what sanctions, blockades, wars, and bombings mean. Today, Venezuela, together with Cuba and Nicaragua, represents one of the main centers of resistance to Western hegemony in Latin America, just as the FR Yugoslavia did in Europe during the 1990s.
Friendly Venezuela, which respects the territorial integrity and independence of our country, is ready to defend its own independence—and for this it has the support of all progressive people around the world, as well as of its own people.
Venezuela is a symbol of hope for all progressive people. Therefore, the people of Serbia stand on the right side of history and express solidarity with Venezuela, Comrade Đenić concluded.
At the end of the rally, the Ambassador of Venezuela to Serbia, Haidys Briceño, addressed the participants and stated the following:
“First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia and the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia for this initiative, as well as to all the people who support the defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty. In this struggle, we are not alone; many peoples of the world stand with us.
In Venezuela, the unity of the people, the army, and the police acts together to protect our territory, resources, and freedom, always with a strong commitment to peace and respect for international law.
Faced with the serious threat of a colonialist plan by the government of the United States of America, aimed at imposing war in the Caribbean and stealing Venezuelan resources, it is important to reaffirm that ‘Venezuela will never again be a colony of any empire or foreign power.’
Today, we are not defending only our own rights, but also the universal right never again to endure the imposition of a world dominated by pirates and buccaneers who have plundered and enslaved peoples for centuries. This is a meaningful struggle led by ordinary people, men and women, just as you are doing here.”
¡VIVA VENEZUELA, VIVA MADURO!
USA HANDS OFF VENEZUELA!
SOLIDARITY WITH VENEZUELA!
