Mexican organization Socialist Chair Gramsi and Communist Party (Mexico) and solidarity organizations for Venezuela issued a strong video message of support for Venezuela at the demonstration to support Venezuela on December 27 in Mexico City.
The speakers on the video reaffirmed that their commitment to internationalist solidarity and denouncing what they described as ongoing U.S. imperialist pressure against the Venezuelan people.
Referencing the late Venezuelan leader Hugo Chávez, the speakers declared that Venezuela is “a dignified people that defends itself,” and sent greetings to comrades across the country. They also extended solidarity to “all the resistances” confronting what they described as a U.S.-led siege against Venezuela.
One of the participants stressed that the Mexican people “have remained steadfast” and pledged continued support for Venezuela, adding that such solidarity extends beyond Mexico to the broader peoples of Latin America.
Addressing the possibility of military escalation, the speakers warned that, in the event of an invasion of Venezuela, Mexican solidarity forces would respond with what they termed a “political-social uprising of civil resistance,” carried out peacefully and on a nationwide scale across Mexico.
The declaration concluded with an explicit reaffirmation of internationalist commitment and socialist aspirations. “We are headed toward socialism,” the speakers said, asserting that the decision of the peoples of the region cannot be stopped.
The message closed with expressions of friendship toward the Venezuelan people, denouncing the provocation of the U.S. imperialism.
