On January 3, the People’s Democracy Party (PDP) and the 21st Century Che Guevara (Defense Brigade) issued a joint statement “US Imperialism Must Immediately Halt the Invasion of Venezuela and Release President Maduro!” regarding the US invasion of Venezuela and the arrest of President Maduro and his spouse.

US Imperialism Must Immediately Halt the Invasion of Venezuela and Release President Maduro!
US imperialism has launched a brutal invasion and unleashed savage violence against Venezuela. Beginning around 2 AM on January 3, US aerial bombardments targeted the southern military stronghold of Fort Tiuna and the eastern military stronghold of La Carlota in the capital city, Caracas. US forces also bombed key military installations along the eastern coast of Venezuela, including Margarita Island and the Port of La Guaira. Foreign media outlets reported explosions at the Ministry of Defense building in Caracas, La Carlota military airport, Fort Tiuna, and the Guaicaipuro Fortress. Numerous other locations were hit by drone strikes. Even more shocking is the deployment of the US special forces unit, Delta Force, to arrest and kidnap President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores of the anti-imperialist people’s government of Venezuela. Vice President Delcy Rodríguez is urgently demanding that the US “provide evidence proving President Maduro’s survival and disclose his current location immediately.”
Venezuelan authorities strongly condemn this heinous aggression by US imperialism and have resolved to engage in a life-and-death resistance. In an official statement, the Venezuelan government slammed these acts of aggression as a clear violation of Articles 1 and 2 of the UN Charter, which mandate respect for sovereignty, the legal equality of states, and the prohibition of the use of force. The statement further asserted that the attempt to force a colonial war in order to destroy the republican form of government and impose “regime change” was carried out in alliance with fascist oligarchic forces, and declared that it will fail just like all previous attempts. Furthermore, the government urged all social and political forces across the country to activate mobilization plans and rise up to condemn the imperialist attacks. Even after the news of the kidnapping of President Maduro and the First Lady was revealed, Vice President Rodríguez announced that all comprehensive defense plans are being activated in accordance with the prior instructions issued by President Maduro.
The invasion and kidnapping by US imperialism are brutal atrocities and the pinnacle of viciousness. The Trump administration saw its false pretext of a “War on Drugs” completely shattered by its own acts of piracy and looting—specifically the illegal seizure of Venezuelan oil tankers and the robbery of 4 million barrels of crude oil. While the US slanders and conspires to brand Venezuela as a “terrorist state,” it is, in fact, the world’s foremost terrorist state, having attacked civilian vessels over 30 times in the Caribbean and massacred more than 100 people. Since last August, imperialist US has incessantly slandered the anti-imperialist people’s government of Venezuela as a “drug cartel boss” and a “fascist regime,” while incessantly carrying out maritime and aerial warfare along with covert operations, including CIA-led “false flag” operations—all of which ended in failure. Now, casting off all masks, the US is launching a full-scale war with the aim of plundering Venezuelan oil and re-colonizing Latin America.
US Imperialism Must Immediately Halt the Invasion of Venezuela and Release President Maduro! The Venezuelan government is urging all its people toward a life-and-death resistance war under the slogan “People to the streets!” The regular army and militia have been deployed for sovereignty and peace, and President Nicolás Maduro is responding with determination, preparing all national defense plans. Now is the time for everyone to solidify internationalist solidarity and support for Venezuela and fight for the “overthrow of imperialism.” After Venezuela come Cuba and Latin America, and a “second Caribbean Crisis” will lead to World War 3. In the face of the common enemy, US imperialism, Venezuela and the ‘Republic of Korea’ are never two. Chávez’s call—”The response of all patriots is unity, struggle, battle, and victory”—makes the hearts of the Venezuelan people and progressive humanity worldwide beat faster. Our people and the people of the world will rise up in an anti-imperialist, anti-US struggle to overthrow imperialism, the mastermind of war, and accelerate global independence and lasting peace.
