The UK has agreed to allow the US to use British bases to launch strikes on Iranian sites targeting the Strait of Hormuz.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer previously allowed US forces to use the bases only for defensive operations to prevent Iran firing missiles that put British interests or lives at risk.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that the expanded agreement allows for US offensive operations, although the UK will not directly participate in these strikes.
In response to the UK’s decision, US President Donald Trump criticized the timing, suggesting that the UK should have acted a lot faster.
