Arrest of several members of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform (WAP) in Nairobi!
We have learned with dismay of the arrest this May 12 of several members of the World Anti-Imperialist Platform (WAP) in Nairobi, during the protest against the France-Africa Summit. Among those detained are Lee Sang-hun, former president of the People’s Democracy Party of South Korea; Joti Brar, chair of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist); Dimitris Patelis, founding member of the Revolutionary Theory Group of Greece; and Song Dan-bee, director of the International Department of the People’s Democratic Party of South Korea.
The demonstration on May 12, although peaceful, was harshly repressed by the Kenyan armed forces and police, who used tear gas. In addition to the arrests, the police confiscated the cameras of journalists.
The reason for this repression? French imperialism, severely weakened in Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso, is trying to maintain its presence on the continent through Kenya. The summit in Nairobi, with the presence of the sinister Emmanuel Macron, is an attempt for this imperialism to avoid sinking. Yet, people are fed up with economic and political neocolonialism, and with the French military presence on the continent. We want this imperialism to sink as quickly as possible!
We denounce the scandalous arrests of the peaceful protesters of the Platform. We call for the immediate release of our comrades. But above all, we call to finally bury Françafrique!

Arrestation de plusieurs membres de la Plateforme Anti-impérialiste Mondiale (WAP) à Nairobi !
Nous avons appris avec effarement l’arrestation ce 12 mai de plusieurs membres de la Plateforme Anti-impérialiste Mondiale(WAP) à Nairobi, lors de la protestation contre le sommet France-Afrique. On trouve parmi les détenus Lee Sang-hun, ancien représentant du Parti démocratique des peuples de Corée du Sud, Joti Brar, représentante du Parti communiste de Grande-Bretagne (marxiste-léniniste), Dimitris Patelis, membre fondateur du Groupe de théorie révolutionnaire de Grèce et Song Dan-bee, directrice du département international du Parti démocratique des peuples de Corée du Sud.
La manifestation du 12 mai, bien que pacifique, a été durement réprimée par les forces armées et la police kényane, qui a fait usage de gaz lacrymogène. En plus des arrestations, la police a confisqué les appareils photo des journalistes.
La raison de cette répression ? L’impérialisme français, durement affaibli au Niger, au Mali et au Burkina Faso, tente de se maintenir sur le continent via la Kenya. Le sommet à Nairobi, avec la présence du sinistre Macron, est une tentative pour cet impérialisme de ne pas sombrer. Pourtant, il y en a marre du néocolonialisme économique et politique, de la présence militaire française sur le continent. Nous voulons que cet impérialisme sombre le plus rapidement possible !
Nous dénonçons les arrestations scandaleuses des manifestants pacifiques de la Plateforme. Nous appelons à la libération immédiate de nos camarades. Mais surtout nous appelons à enfin enterrer la Françafrique !
