[Statement by the World Anti-imperialist Platform]
We Strongly Condemn the Ruto Fascist Murderous Regime for Threatening Peaceful Protests with Gunfire!
The horrific atrocities and human rights violations committed by Kenya’s Ruto fascist regime against the delegation of the World Anti-imperialist Platform (the Platform) are intensifying by the day. Fascist police forces illegally arrested five members of the international delegation, including those from the Platform, without notice and have forcibly detained them for over 36 hours. This is a clear case of kidnapping and a fascist barbarity. Furthermore, the police actually fired shots to intimidate Kenyan activists who were rightfully protesting and peacefully calling for the release of the delegation. This act of violent oppression—unbelievable for the 21st century—objectively confirms that Ruto is a fascist of unparalleled proportions. It is shocking that a country exists on this earth where military and police forces armed with guns and tear gas seize an international delegation during a peaceful march and suppress peaceful protests with live gunfire.
The servant police of the fascist maniac and murderer Ruto are viciously violating and annihilating the human rights of the international delegation. After obstructing the delegation’s rightful exercise of their right to legal counsel in some of the worst detention facilities, they are now intensifying their coercive oppression—even blocking visitations—against international activists who urgently require hospital treatment, including a patient battling cancer. The Ruto fascist regime has already massacred more than 130 people (by official counts) during anti-neoliberalism protests by utilizing live ammunition, direct tear gas hits, and water cannons mixed with lethal chemicals—all of which are illegal under international law. It is a recognized fact that hundreds of injuries and disappearances occurred at that time. Moreover, they have kidnapped and tortured key activists of progressive forces, including General Secretary of the Communist Party Marxist Kenya Booker Omole, and in many cases, have ultimately assassinated them. This same heinous fascist nature is being starkly revealed in the process of detaining and suppressing the Platform delegation.
On May 13, Woo Won-shik, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the “Republic of Korea” (South Korea, hereinafter the ‘ROK’) is visiting Kenya to hold a summit-level meeting with Ruto. While they cite economic objectives, they are in truth formalizing the signing of an ACSA (Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement), which is equivalent to a military alliance. It is no coincidence that after the head of French imperialism, Macron, visited the ‘ROK’ the “Afirca-France Summit” was held in Kenya, and the ‘ROK National Assembly Speaker is visiting Kenya to strengthen aggressive military collusion. Amidst the conditions of World War 3, Kenya and the ’ROK’ serve as strategic bridgeheads and aggressive outposts in East Africa and East Asia, respectively. The brutal violent suppression of international solidarity activists and the death threats against Kenyan comrades clearly demonstrate the fascist frenzy and the final death throes of the imperialist and fascist cliques. We hereby declare once again: if the slightest harm comes to our detained comrades, we will mobilize all means and methods to fight until the end to terminate the Ruto fascist murderous regime. Taking this incident as a turning point, we will further expand the global anti-imperialist and anti-fascist front and intensify the struggle against imperialism and fascism.
