Trade unions affiliated with the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) in Mesoamerica and the Caribbean expressed solidarity with Cuba on Friday, condemning what they described as escalating U.S. military threats against the island.
They reaffirmed support for the Cuban Workers’ Central (CTC), the Cuban government, and Cuba’s right to self-determination. The statement criticized the historical record of U.S. interventions abroad and rejected any justification for military action against Cuba. It also praised Cuba’s resistance to economic sanctions and blockade measures. The declaration called for increased international solidarity and unity among workers worldwide.

The trade union organizations affiliated with the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) in Mesoamerica and the Caribbean, brothers and sisters of the Cuban Workers’ Central (CTC), in the exercise of our proletarian internationalism and our firm anti-imperialist vocation, address the working class and the peoples of the world to express our strongest and unwavering solidarity with the brave workers of the CTC, with the heroic Cuban people, with their legitimate revolutionary government, and with Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
We categorically denounce before the international community the growing threats of military aggression declared by the government of the United States against the sister Republic of Cuba. These bellicose statements, accompanied by naval and aerial intimidation maneuvers, the activation of disinformation mechanisms, and media pressure campaigns, constitute a flagrant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the principles of respect for sovereignty and the self-determination of peoples.
The American empire, accustomed to attacking the peoples of the world as it did in Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and many other territories, now seeks to intimidate Cuba with its military power. However, history has taught us that Cuba does not surrender. Faced with threats, the Cuban people respond with their heads held high, intact revolutionary consciousness, and the certainty that they are not alone.
As organizations, we demand the immediate cessation of all military, verbal, and media actions aimed at destabilizing the peace and sovereignty of Cuba. We reject any attempt to justify military intervention under false humanitarian or national security pretexts.
The Cuban people have forged their indomitable character through more than a century and a half of resistance: from the independence struggles of José Martí, Antonio Maceo, and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, through the fight against the Batista dictatorship, the assault on the Moncada Barracks, the war in the Sierra Maestra, and the proclamation of the socialist character of the Revolution. This spirit of rebellion has enabled them to successfully resist mercenary invasions (Bay of Pigs, 1961), decades of terrorism and sabotage financed from abroad, and the longest and cruelest economic, commercial, and financial blockade in history, maintained and intensified by eleven U.S. administrations.
As trade union organizations, we reaffirm our unconditional respect for the Cuban people’s right to self-determination and to build their own destiny without foreign interference. No imperial power has the moral or legal authority to impose its will through the threat of arms. The legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and Army General Raúl Castro is a school of anti-imperialist dignity that transcends borders and must be defended today more than ever.
The workers of Cuba, organized in the CTC, have been and continue to be the vanguard in defending national sovereignty and the socialist project. Despite the economic siege suffocating the country, they keep the economy functioning, guarantee essential services, and sustain everyday resistance with silent heroism. We express our solidarity with every Cuban worker, farmer, technician, professional, and educator who, with calloused hands and clear consciousness, builds socialism under imperial hostility.
The WFTU organizations of Mesoamerica and the Caribbean warmly salute Army General Raúl Castro, heir to Fidel’s thought, continuer of the revolutionary project, and guarantor of the unity of the Party, the State, and the Cuban people. His leadership in the most complex moments, including the Special Period in Peacetime, the internationalist battle for the freedom of the Five Cuban Heroes, the return of the child Elián González, updates to the economic model, and resistance against the imperialist offensive, has been an example of composure, firmness, and fidelity to principles.
Under his guidance, Cuba has demonstrated that the Revolution is not a past event but a daily construction renewed in each victory over imperial pressure.
Through their unions, the workers declare to the world: Cuba is not alone. Faced with threats of war, we respond with more solidarity and mobilization. Faced with attempts to break the Cuban people’s will, we respond with greater unity and internationalist struggle.

Las organizaciones sindicales afiliadas a la Federación Sindical Mundial FSM de Mesoamérica y El Caribe, hermanos de la Central de Trabajadores de Cuba CTC, en el ejercicio de nuestro internacionalismo proletario y nuestra sólida vocación antiimperialista, nos dirigimos a la clase trabajadora y a los pueblos del mundo para expresar nuestra más firme e inquebrantable solidaridad con los valerosos trabajadores y trabajadoras de la CTC, con el heroico pueblo cubano, con su legítimo gobierno revolucionario y con el General de Ejército Raúl Castro Ruz, líder histórico de la Revolución Cubana.
Denunciamos categóricamente ante la comunidad internacional las crecientes amenazas de agresión militar declaradas por el gobierno de Estados Unidos contra la hermana República de Cuba. Estas declaraciones belicistas, acompañadas de maniobras de hostigamiento naval y aéreo, activación de mecanismos de desinformación y presión mediática, constituyen una violación flagrante del derecho internacional, de la Carta de la ONU y de los principios de respeto a la soberanía y autodeterminación de los pueblos.
El imperio norteamericano, acostumbrado a agredir a los pueblos del mundo, como lo hizo en Vietnam, Granada, Panamá, Iraq, Libia, Siria, Nicaragua, El Salvador y tantos otros territorios, pretende ahora amedrentar a Cuba con su poderío militar. Sin embargo, la historia nos ha enseñado que Cuba no se rinde. Frente a las amenazas, el pueblo cubano responde con la frente en alto, la conciencia revolucionaria intacta y la certeza de que no está solo. Como organizaciones exigimos el cese inmediato de todas las acciones bélicas, verbales y mediáticas que pretendan desestabilizar la paz y la soberanía de Cuba. Rechazamos cualquier intento de justificar una intervención militar bajo falsos pretextos humanitarios o de seguridad nacional.
El pueblo cubano ha forjado su carácter indomable en más de un siglo y medio de resistencia: desde las gestas independentistas de José Martí, Antonio Maceo y Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, pasando por la lucha contra la dictadura de Batista, el asalto al Cuartel Moncada, la guerra en la Sierra Maestra y la proclamación del carácter socialista de la Revolución. Ese espíritu de rebeldía le ha permitido enfrentar con éxito invasiones mercenarias (Playa Girón, 1961), décadas de sabotaje terrorista financiado desde el exterior y el bloqueo económico, comercial y financiero más largo y cruel de la historia, mantenido y recrudecido por once administraciones estadounidenses.
Como organizaciones sindicales reafirmamos nuestro respeto irrestricto al derecho del pueblo cubano a la autodeterminación y a la construcción de su propio destino sin injerencias extranjeras. Ninguna potencia imperialista tiene autoridad moral ni jurídica para imponer su voluntad mediante la amenaza de las armas. El legado del Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro y del General de Ejército Raúl Castro, es una escuela de dignidad antiimperialista que trasciende fronteras y que hoy, más que nunca, debemos defender.
Los trabajadores y trabajadoras de Cuba, organizados en la Central de Trabajadores de Cuba CTC, han sido y siguen siendo la vanguardia en la defensa de la soberanía nacional y del proyecto socialista. A pesar del cerco económico que asfixia al país, son ellos quienes mantienen la economía en funcionamiento, garantizan servicios básicos y multiplican la resistencia cotidiana con heroísmo callado. Nos solidarizamos con cada obrero, campesino, técnico, profesional y docente de Cuba que, con sus manos callosas y su conciencia lúcida, construye el socialismo en medio de la hostilidad imperialista.
Las Organizaciones de La FSM de Mesoamérica y El Caribe, saludamos fraternalmente al General de Ejército Raúl Castro, heredero del pensamiento de Fidel, continuador de la obra revolucionaria y garante de la unidad del Partido, el Estado y el pueblo cubano. Su liderazgo en los momentos más complejos, incluyendo el Período Especial en Tiempos de Paz, la batalla internacionalista por la libertad de los Cinco Héroes Cubanos, el retorno del niño Elián González, las actualizaciones del modelo económico y la resistencia frente a la ofensiva imperialista, ha sido ejemplo de serenidad, firmeza y fidelidad a los principios. Bajo su guía, Cuba ha demostrado que la Revolución no es un hecho del pasado, sino una construcción diaria que se renueva en cada victoria sobre el acoso imperialista.
Los trabajadores a través de sus organizaciones sindicales declaran ante el mundo: Cuba no está sola. Frente a las amenazas de guerra, respondemos con más solidaridad y movilización. Frente al intento de doblegar la voluntad del pueblo cubano, respondemos con más unidad y más lucha internacionalista.
