CARC Party Statement : Solidarity with our comrades from the World Anti-Imperialist Platform and Turkish progressive organizations who were arrested in Istanbul

Solidarity with our comrades from the World Anti-Imperialist Platform and Turkish progressive organizations who were arrested in Istanbul

On July 7 and 8, 2026, NATO will hold a summit in Ankara to discuss the implementation of the decision made in 2025 at the Hague summit to increase military spending by all NATO member states to 5% of GDP, to fuel the war economy, to strengthen support for Ukraine, to isolate Iran, and to intensify the encirclement of China.

Between June 23 and July 1, Turkish police carried out a wave of preemptive arrests targeting hundreds of academics, journalists, lawyers, trade unionists, political activists, social activists, feminists, environmentalists, and representatives of Turkish grassroots organizations, as well as young activists participating in the camp organized by the World Anti-Imperialist Platform as part of its 11th International Conference against World War III and NATO, the U.S. imperialistsโ€™ global war machine.

The blocking of the internet, roads, and airports around NATO facilities and facilities that will host the summit, along with the deployment of political repression, demonstrate that the imperialist groups and their lackeys need to erect a wall between themselves and the masses. They need to expand restricted zones and to shield their leaders in an attempt to protect them from the reach of the masses. This is because their actions are increasingly despised by the masses, and because the system from which they draw power and wealth is increasingly a cage that suffocates the masses and devastates the environment in which we live: it is a system of war, environmental devastation, oppression, and misery.

By acting as the watchdog for the U.S. imperialists, Erdogan and the Turkish bourgeoisie think they can establish themselves as reliable partners of the war criminals they will host with all โ€œhonorsโ€ in Ankara, while in reality they are tarnishing Turkeyโ€™s independence and demonstrating that their fear of the Turkish people.

As the CARC Party, we express our utmost solidarity with all comrades and activists affected by the repression. Below are the contact details for the main diplomatic offices of the Republic of Turkey in Italy, so that anyone may send messages of protest and demands for the release of all those arrested.

We are certain that repression will not stop the resistance, mobilization, and organization of revolutionary and progressive forces in Turkey against the NATO summit and, more broadly, against the Erdogan regime, which oppresses the Turkish and Kurdish peoples.

The escalating repression is part of the ongoing Third World War. Promoting class solidarity, expanding it, and using it to strengthen the resistance of the masses as the general crisis deepens is the way to make the boulder of repression fall back on those who hurled it.

Every move made by the U.S. imperialists, the Zionists, the EU, and their accomplices backfires on them. Not only does it fuel the contradictions among the imperialist groups themselvesโ€”each of which is driven by its own interests and seeks to claim the lionโ€™s share of the spoilsโ€”but above all, it intensifies the contempt and rebellion of the masses and the peoples against the imperialists and their accomplices. Even when they achieved quick victories (as in Yugoslavia in 1999, Afghanistan in 2002, and Iraq in 2003), they failed to establish stable, self-sufficient, reliable regimes in any of the occupied countries, and in each of these countries, resistance to their occupation has grown: they had to leave Afghanistan with their tails between their legs. In Venezuela, the U.S. imperialists had to intervene directly because they failed to overthrow the revolutionary government despite years of sanctions, boycotts, sabotage, attempts to assassinate revolutionary leaders, and other criminal operations. The resistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its counterattack through the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz have advanced the BRICS initiative and the de-dollarization of the international monetary and financial system, ultimately forcing the U.S. imperialists to back down. In Gaza, the Zionists have resorted to genocide; they have destroyed hospitals, schools, roads, and buildings; they have subjected the inhabitants of the Strip to hunger and thirst; but they have failed to defeat the forces of the Resistance or to divide them from the population. The Zionists have never been so isolated and reviled internationally, nor so divided internally and throughout the world (particularly in imperialist countries). Their crimes have become a political issue. Solidarity with the Palestinian people has propelled the class struggle forward, becoming the unifying force and catalyst for countless struggles against war, the war economy, and the arms race, and has given rise to new popular organizations.

Imperialism is a giant with feet of clay!

Imperialism has always been armed to the teeth. But whatever kind of weapons it possessesโ€”whether drones, missiles, nuclear weapons, or any other kind of weapon that science and technology can provideโ€”nothing can save it from its inevitable fate: imperialism and all its weapons will be consigned by the peoples of the world to the museum of history!

Letโ€™s support the resistance of the masses and the oppressed peoples, strengthen it, raise the level of the consciousness that drives it until it becomes the organized force that will put an end to World War III by putting an end to imperialism!

Freedom for our comrades!
