The US Congress suggested the US government to need additional long-range missiles in the Indo-Pacific region as the CCP’s aggressive approach toward Taiwan was increasingly rising. Part of them argued that Taiwan should be militarized immediately.
The United States House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party adopted “proposals on Uyghur Genocide & Taiwan” on 24 May (local time).
The House Select Committee on China who adopted report regarding Taiwan had visited Taiwan in February and March of this year. At that time it emphasized the importance of providing Taiwan with real military power to deter war, stating “We need to arm Taiwan to the teeth.”
Also it said “Therefore, it is in the political, security, and economic interests of the United States to deter an act of military aggression from the PRC toward Taiwan.” and provided 10 blueprints for Congressional action.
First of all, the House Select Committee on China emphasized “The United States needs additional long-range missiles and unmanned vehicles in the Indo-Pacific region.”
It mentioned “The United States and its allies need to strengthen and better coordinate collective planning for how they will deter or would respond diplomatically and economically to a crisis over Taiwan.”
It said “Improving combined training between the U.S. and Taiwanese militaries will bolster deterrence.” and stressed “Taiwan urgently needs key U.S. weapons systems already approved by Congress for sale.”
Chairman Mike Gallagher remarked “We are entering the window of maximum danger. Neither the US nor Taiwan had nearly enough critical munitions in the theater to deter the CCP. If we want to have a hope of stopping world war III we need to arm Taiwan to the teeth right now.”
