The Korean Central News Agency on July 3 reported that major sectors of the DPRK over-fulfilled their first half-yearly plans in the struggle for attaining 12 major goals for the development of the national economy.

Amid the all-people struggle getting further intensified to open a new phase in socialist construction, eye-opening miracles have been made on the agricultural front, the first half-yearly national economic plans for major indices fulfilled in the fields of metallurgical, chemical, electric power, coal, machine-building, mining, forestry, railways and other industrial sectors and new standards and new records steadily created in the field of construction.
The socialist farm fields are seething with the struggle to attain the goal of grain production, the first and dominant goal among the major goals of the national economy.
In hearty response to the Party’s programme for the rural revolution, irrigation projects have been pushed forward on a nationwide scale, thus laying material and technical foundations for preventing damage by drought and flooding in large areas of farm fields.
