VICTORY DAY OVER FASCISM – WE WON, AND WE WILL WIN AGAIN!
New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) and the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKOJ) congratulate all progressive people in Serbia on the 79th anniversary of the Victory over fascism in World War 2! Our members celebrated this holiday at two locations in Belgrade. A delegation from NKPJ and SKOJ laid flowers at the Cemetery of Belgrade Liberators, together with representatives of the Belgrade branch of the People’s Liberation War Fighter’s League (SUBNOR) , as well as numerous other associations, as well as representatives from the embassies of former USSR countries. The delegation of our Party and SKOJ celebrated Victory Day in front of the Monument to the Fallen Fighters in Zemun.
The Day of Victory over fascism today has greater significance than ever before. It is particularly important to emphasize that the Soviet Red Army was the main bearer of this heroic deed, and that it was the USSR which liberated the peoples of Europe from the clutches of fascism and Nazism. Also, communist movements in the occupied countries of Europe played a huge role in the liberation, including the People’s Liberation Movement of Yugoslavia. Nazism, which was defeated on this day, left behind tens of millions of dead, as well as immeasurable destruction. It was the communists who stopped this evil.
Today, although defeated, Nazism and fascism find new refuge among capitalists who serve the interests of Western imperialism. It is precisely the states belonging to the imperialist camp that are most actively involved in creating and promoting neo-Nazi organizations and movements. The best example of this is Ukraine under the Zelensky regime, but similar attacks, not only against communists, but also against anti-fascist tradition, are happening in the Baltic countries and Poland. Other EU countries are also increasingly equating fascism and communism, which in practice leads to further strengthening of the former.
Today, it is crucial for progressive forces to celebrate this day, the day when the greatest evil in the history of mankind was defeated. NKPJ and SKOJ remain firmly on the path of anti-fascism and stand firmly on the front line to protect its heritage and traditions. Today, when capitalists are trying in every way to tarnish this day, NKPJ and SKOJ once again emphasize the importance of the people’s victory over destructive ideologies and regimes, as well as the new socialist world emerged from that victory.
