On May 20, the 11th Korea International Forum delegation toured around the Pyeongtaek US military base and held a meeting with the Pyeongtaek regional activities.
During the tour of the US military base, Hyun Pilkyung, Director of the US Military Base Reappropriation Research Institute, detailed the actual war preparations of the US military, emphasizing that wars in East Asia are approaching as a reality.
“International Dialogue for Anti-Imperialist Peace” was held. The moderator said, “The imperialist powers have created a very dangerous situation by practicing war from time to time in East Asia,” and said, “We shared the situation in East Asia, the war in Ukraine, and the war in Palestine, and sought solidarity to create peace.
The event was attended by members of the US Military Withdrawal Movement and activists from the southern Gyeonggi region. Pastor Jang Changwon of the Osan Workers’ Center delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the group.
Azzam Tamimi, the Chairman of Alhiwar TV Channel, introduced himself and said he has been working on the Palestine issue for a long time and has researched Hamas especially.
He argued that the current problems in Palestine are primarily caused by imperialism and that fighting against Zionism means fighting against the creators of Zionism.
He also characterized the current generation as being awakened to what imperialism is doing behind the conflict and added that this is the beginning of the end of imperialism.
Ju Hsing Tsang from the Labor Party (Taiwan) said, “What the US wants from Taiwan is street battle,” and explained, “When listening to retired generals, they were trained for street battles, and for that, the US has been sending its soldiers to Taiwan for training.”
“If the Democratic Progressive Party regime continues to provoke, the war could break out,” he added, pointing out that “China can preemptively strike, which looks like a preemptive strike but in actual, is a war initiated by the US.
Miloš Karavezić of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) in Serbia said that the West has been preparing for the war in Ukraine for years, and now that the war has been going on for two years, the people of Europe are fighting to stop sending weapons.
The war in Eastern Europe is connected to the war in Palestine and the wars in East Asia, he said.
All the participants applauded loudly and expressed their solidarity with the delegations. After a short Q&A, the meeting ended. The participants resolved to intensify the struggle against imperialism.
