[Madrid Colloquium] Session 5 : Confrontation between China and the USA and the anti-imperialist front

On June 9, Session 5, “Confrontation between China and the USA and the anti-imperialist front,” was held in Madrid, Spain, as part of the Colloquium on “The situation of World War 3 and the anti-imperialist and antifascist struggle.”

Session 5 took place from 12:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Michael Tzimis from the Socialist Platform of Georgia, Amancay Riquelme, Central Committee Member of the Chilean Communist Party (Proletarian Action), Stephen Cho, Organizer of the World Anti-imperialist Platform, Pedro Barragán, Joti Brar, Vice Chair of the CPGB-ML and Spokesperson of the World Anti-imperialist Platform.

Amancay Riquelme said, “The United States is currently dragging Iran into a war against Israel and China into a military conflict over Taiwan and Hong Kong. And it is the US that is provoking South Korea’s military confrontation with the DPRK8. It is also the US that is fomenting a military conflict over Venezuela.”

She argued that “China and Russia are the only two countries capable of stopping NATO globally,” adding that “Stopping NATO is one thing, defeating it is another,” and that “Russia and China are not able to do it alone. They need all kinds of anti-imperialist, anti-fascist, patriotic, socialist, democratic, revolutionary, believing and non-believing forces, all communists in all parts of the world, all peoples, the vast majority of humanity,” she said.

“The growing cooperation between Russia and China and Iran points to a promising future in terms of the defeat of imperialism, but not only in this respect,” she said, adding that “the forthcoming clash between NATO and China will not only be a clash between two superpowers, but above all a clash between systems, between a dying imperialist capitalism and a socialism which, after the terrible defeat of 1989 with the liquidation of the USSR, is regaining its historical cause.”

Stephen Cho pointed out, “Roger Wicker, a Republican member of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, made a belligerent statement at the end of May that tactical nuclear weapons should be deployed in the “ROK” and named China and the DPRK as a “new axis of aggressors” in addition to the countries currently fighting wars with Russia and Iran. This inherited Republican President Bush’s designation of the DPRK and Iran as an “evil axis” along with Iraq just before the Iraq War in 2003.

“The current world situation can be summarized in one sentence: ‘The flames of World War 3, perpetrated by imperialism, are spreading from Eastern Europe to West Asia (Middle East) and then to East Asia.’

“With the recent warmongering statements and aggressive anti-Russian policies of NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, French President Macron, and US President Biden, Ukraine has been provided with new offensive weapons, which could be used to attack the Russian mainland, raising the possibility that an escalation in Eastern Europe could occur before, rather than after, the war in East Asia. If so, this escalation in Eastern Europe will be an objective trigger that could further trigger an already imminent war in East Asia,” he said, adding that “this escalation in Eastern Europe will be an objective trigger that could further trigger an already imminent war in East Asia.”

He continued, “The US imperialism is using Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines in the “first island chain” as “impenetrable aircraft carriers” to enforce its policy of blockading China and to escalate the “Cross-Strait war crisis” between China and Taiwan and the war crisis in the South China Sea,” analyzing that “Like the military power of Russia, China’s economic and diplomatic power also have significant meaning in overcoming the imperialist sanctions.”

He emphasized, “The thorough socialist principles of the DPRK is also important in proposing the way to move forward after the anti-imperialist camp won World War 3 and the ‘New Cold War,'” concluding that “We are convinced that the justice and truth of our era, the great cause of anti-imperialism, anti-fascism, sovereignty and peace, liberation and reunification, will be achieved by the power of united people on uprising as the history proves.”

All sessions ended with a video presentation by Boris Litvinov, First Secretary of the Donetsk Republic Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. He emphasized the opposition to fascism and imperialism, affirming the victory of workers around the world.

In her closing speech, Joti Brar said, “Genuine analysis comes from learning. We have to awaken the workers.” She also said, “The new era is coming. Imperialism is facing uncontrollable forces. The more people stand up to imperialism, the faster it will be defeated.”

All participants took a group photo together.
