NKPJ-SKOJ JOINED GLOBAL ACTION IN SUPPORT OF PRESIDENT MADURO

Activists of the NKPJ and SKOJ participated in a rally on 17th of August in support of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro. The rally, held in front of the Venezuelan embassy in Belgrade, was part of a global response to the demonstrations against President Maduro, organized by the pro-imperialist opposition in that country.

Maduro secured a decisive victory in the presidential elections held on July 28, winning 52% of the votes, while his main opponent from the pro-imperialist opposition, Edmundo Gonzales, received 44% support. The elections in this country were fully legitimate, as confirmed by NKPJ Executive Secretary, comrade Aleksandar Đenić, who monitored the electoral process as an international observer. The election results were recognized by 49 countries, including Serbia. On the other hand, the opposition, fully backed by imperialists, led by the USA, not only refused to acknowledge the election results, but also engaged extreme right-wing groups that attempted to cause chaos in the country and overthrow the legitimately elected president. The right-wing coup was prevented by the effective response of the Bolivarian National Guard of Venezuela, which would not have been possible without the broad support of the popular masses.

The countries of the imperialist bloc, which had previously pursued aggressive policies toward Venezuela, instigated this coup to overthrow Maduro and destroy the Bolivarian Revolution. Supporting this claim is the fact that the 80% of the 2.000 arrested coup plotters were trained in Texas by the U.S. government. The Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs also revealed that the “opposition” had repeatedly called on the USA and EU members to further tighten sanctions against the country. Not a single country from the imperialist bloc have recognized Maduro’s re-election as president so far.

The countries of the anti-imperialist bloc, which Venezuela is part of, as well as all anti-imperialist and anti-fascist parties and movements, are obligated to defend the achievements of the Bolivarian Revolution all over the world. The World Anti-Imperialist Platform, in which both the NKPJ and the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela participate, views the struggle against U.S. and its satellites’ interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela and other countries as one of its main tasks. Success in this struggle is a prerequisite for defeating NATO imperialism and establishing socialism in the entire world.
