A mysterious explosion has occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, where radioactive effluent had occurred in the former Soviet Union.
At dawn on February 14, a large explosion accompanied by flames suddenly erupted from the roof covering of the containment facility that houses the remains of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in northern Ukraine.
CCTV footage released to the public vividly showed the explosion occurred as something fell on the roof of the containment facility.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) later said that internal and external radiation levels remained normal and stable.
Following the explosion, Ukrainian President Zelensky claimed it was caused by a Russian drone strike. Ukrainian media published a photo of the drone’s engine, which fell at the site of the explosion, and reported that it was an ‘Iranian Shahed Kamikaze Drone’.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov countered, saying that the Russian military does not do such things and that there can not be attacking nuclear infrastructure or nuclear energy facilities.
Furthermore, Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, accused Zelensky of attending the Munich Security Conference to put on a scary, bloody, and very dangerous performance to retain more weapons and funding from the West.
