‘Ukrainian forces in Kursk near encirclement’

On March 7, Reuters reported that Ukrainian forces infiltrating the western Russian region of Kursk are currently on the verge of being surrounded by a fierce Russian counterattack.

It added that the situation of Ukrainian forces in Kursk has deteriorated sharply over the past three days, with Russian attacks splitting the army in two and cutting off supply routes.

It also said that the likelihood of Ukrainian forces retreating or being captured has increased.

The deteriorating situation comes as the US suspended military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine after a summit between the US and Ukraine ended in disaster on Feb. 28.

On the same day, US President Trump said, “Frankly, it’s harder to negotiate with Ukraine, they don’t hold the cards (to win),” adding, “It might be easier to negotiate with Russia.”
