On March 11, ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas have resumed in Qatar, AFP reports. US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff is participating.
According to the report, Hamas is willing to accept an extension of the first phase of the ceasefire instead of moving forward with the second phase.
In exchange for the extension of the first phase, Hamas proposed a condition that Israel release senior Hamas figures in its custody.
The ceasefire talks have been stalled amid unreasonable demands from the US and Israel, including the “disarmament of Hamas.”
On March 7, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and the leadership issued an emergency combat readiness order to the Israeli army for an operation in Gaza, according to Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation.
Trump and Witkoff have been pressuring Hamas to release the remaining hostages or the Gaza war could start again, and Israel is working on a phased war plan to realize this.
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has also warned that the next step will be to cut off electricity and water.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said, “Israel will never agree to end the war in Gaza unless Hamas is completely disarmed,” and added, “If we cannot achieve our goals through political means, we will have to resume military activity.”
