Israel launched retaliatory airstrikes against Hezbollah on March 22, saying it received its first “rocket attack” since the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.
The Israeli military said it detected five projectiles fired from Lebanon earlier in the day and intercepted three rockets that crossed into Israeli territory. No injuries were reported.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack, according to foreign media.
But, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has ordered a tough response against dozens of terrorist targets in Lebanon, and the Israeli military has fired dozens of rockets into southern Lebanon.
Israeli Defense Minister Katz said they will strike the Lebanese capital Beirut if there are further attacks targeting Metula.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam pointed to growing tensions along Lebanon’s southern border and made an order to take steps to prevent Lebanon from being dragged into a “new war”.
Israel also broke a ceasefire agreement with Hamas on March 18 and has been conducting merciless air strikes on Gaza. Shortly afterward, the Gaza Health Ministry reported that the death toll in Gaza had reached 130 in two days.
Similarly, Israel has launched almost daily airstrikes in southern Lebanon and is occupying five areas in southern Lebanon in violation of a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.
