US military continues to bomb Yemen — casualties mount

The US military continued airstrikes on the suburbs of Yemen’s capital Sanaa and other parts of the country on April 19, the weekend.

At least three people were killed, and four others were seriously injured, Ansar Allah-run al-Masirah TV reported, citing health authorities.

The US military carried out a total of 21 airstrikes on Sanaa city and its western outskirts on the day, according to the report. Two people were killed, and two others were wounded in the al-Nahda neighborhood in northern Sanaa. The third victim was wounded in a cemetery in the Safia neighborhood, south of Sanaa city. A US airstrike also killed one person and wounded another in Bani Matar, a western suburb of Sanaa.

It is unclear whether the casualties were civilians or Ansar Allah operatives.

The roar of the engines of the US warplanes and the explosions of bombs echoed throughout the Sanaa neighborhood, they said.

Local officials said the airstrikes were a resumption of the US military’s bombing of the Ras Isa refueling port in western Hodeidah province two days ago, which killed 80 people and wounded 150 others.
